    Abstract: An optical communication system includes: an optical fiber including a plurality of cores formed in parallel to a longitudinal direction; a first optical communication device including an optical transmission unit and an optical reception unit, and provided with connection ends of the optical transmission unit and the optical reception unit each connected to one end of any one of the cores on an interface surface; and a second optical communication device including an optical transmission unit and an optical reception unit, and provided with connection ends of the optical transmission unit and the optical reception unit each connected to another end of any one of the cores on an interface surface, in which the connection ends are provided in an arrangement in which a type of transmission and reception of one of the connection ends of the first optical communication device and a type of transmission and reception of one of the connection ends of the second optical communication device are a transmission and reception pair, the one of the connection ends of the first optical communication device and the one of the connection ends of the second optical communication device being in a line-symmetric positional relationship with respect to a vertical line to a horizontal plane of when the first optical communication device and the second optical communication device are installed on the horizontal plane such that the interface surfaces of the first optical communication device and the second optical communication device face a front.

    Abstract: An optical transmission apparatus includes an optical transmitter that generates an optical signal in an uplink direction by modulating output light of a laser that outputs light of a first frequency with a subcarrier on which transmission data is superimposed, a heterodyne detection unit that receives an optical signal in a downlink direction by heterodyne detection, a control unit that calculates a first intermediate frequency based on the frequency of the downlink signal received by the heterodyne detection and the first frequency of the laser, and controls the first frequency of the laser when there is a difference between the calculated first intermediate frequency and a reference second intermediate frequency by a threshold or more.

    Abstract: Provided is a communication device including: a transmission timing calculation unit configured to calculate a transmission timing of a first frame using the number of transmitted bits from a predetermined timing to transmission of the first frame and a throughput; a transmission unit configured to transmit the first frame to an external device at the transmission timing; a reception unit configured to receive a second frame from the external device in response to the first frame; a reception timing calculation unit configured to calculate a reception timing of the second frame using the number of received bits from a predetermined timing to reception of the second frame by the reception unit and a throughput; and a round trip time calculation unit configured to calculate a round trip time using a processing time required by the external device from the reception of the first frame to the transmission of the second frame, the transmission timing, and the reception timing.
