摘要: An image forming apparatus includes a controller capable of performing a printing control and a cleaning control. In the printing control, developer images carried on the image carriers are transferred toward the opposing surface or a recording sheet by applying a transfer current between each of the image carriers and the transfer device. In the cleaning control, developer collected by the cleaning rollers is transferred toward the image carriers and the transfer device and collected by the cleaning device by applying a transfer current between each of the image carriers and the transfer device and switching an electric field established between the image carrier and the corresponding cleaning roller. The controller is configured to control the transfer current such that an average absolute value of the transfer current in the cleaning control is smaller than that in the printing control.

摘要: An Image Forming Apparatus has a controller for controlling a second bias, which is applied to a cleaning member, based on a value of electric current measured by a current sensor. The controller controls the second bias on based on the value of the current measured when a predetermined measurement range of a transport belt is in contact with the cleaning member. The measurement range is a range in which conditions, under which the first bias and the second bias are applied, are identical.

摘要: In a color laser printer, the amount of reversely transferred developing agent on the surface of a developing roller is estimated based on the operating time of the color laser printer, the surface area of an image, and the charging amount of developing agent. When the estimated amount of reversely transferred developing agent reaches a predetermined value, a solid image is formed on a photoconductor drum. By transferring the solid image onto recording paper, a conveyer belt, or an intermediate transfer belt, the reversely transferred developing agent is removed. Alternatively, by rotating the developing roller in a state in which the developing roller is separated from the photoconductor drum, the reversely transferred developing agent on the surface of the developing roller is collected into a developing agent hopper.

摘要: An image forming apparatus comprises an image bearing member which is able to carry latent image and a reservoir in which liquid developer is stored. The liquid developer is transferred and adhered to the latent image so that the liquid developer develops the latent image. The liquid developer presents liquid state at least when the liquid developer develops the latent image. The image forming apparatus further comprises a developer retainer (being faced with the image bearing member) having fine holes through which the liquid developer is transferred to the image bearing member, and a developer supplier which supplies the liquid developer from the reservoir to the developer retainer. Each of the fine holes has an exit opening through which the liquid developer moves out of the fine hole and moves to the image bearing member. Each of the fine holes has a part in which a cross sectional area thereof increases as a distance from the exit opening decreases.

摘要: Pulse interval data is introduced into a one-chip microcomputer which includes three memory sections A, B and C. The memory section A stores maximum interval data and the memory section C stores minimum interval data. When the new interval data is introduced into the one-chip microcomputer, the new interval data is compared with the maximum data stored in the memory section A or the minimum data stored in the memory section C. When the new interval data is smaller than the maximum interval data and greater than the minimum interval data, the new maximum and minimum interval data is introduced into and stored in the memory sections A and C. The new interval data is then stored in memory section B to satisfy the condition A.gtoreq.B.gtoreq.C. When a predetermined number of sampling operation is completed, the interval data stored in the memory section B shows the central value of the pulse interval.
