Abstract:
A sustainable material suitable for three-dimensional printing is disclosed. The sustainable material comprises a resin derived from recycled polyethylene terephthalate oligomer and a bio-based glycol. The resulting sustainable material provides a robust 3-D printing material.
Abstract:
A method and system for magnetic actuated mixing which use magnetic particles, non-magnetic abrasive particles and electromagnetic field to facilitate milling. The method and system use magnetic particles and a generated electromagnetic field to facilitate the milling as well. The method and system can be used in any application that requires the preparation of small-sized particles at either the micro or nano scale, including for example, preparing toners, inks, wax, pigment dispersions and the like.
Abstract:
A process for making a latex emulsion suitable for use in a toner composition includes co-emulsifying a bio-based resin with an insoluble component, such as a pigment or wax, whereby the resin encapsulates the insoluble component. The resulting latex, including the insoluble component encapsulated in the resin, may then be utilized to form a toner. The insoluble component may thus be included in toner particles, which might otherwise be difficult to achieve, using emulsion aggregation processes.
Abstract:
A process and device for making a latex emulsion suitable for use in a toner composition which uses Steam Injection Emulsification (SIE) are disclosed, including a steam injection nozzle system, where the nozzle has one or more holes for releasing steam into an emulsion, which induces turbulence in the emulsion to facilitate emulsification, solvent distillation or both to produce latex emulsions for making toner.
Abstract:
The disclosure provides sustainable toner particles of from about 180 nm to about 250 nm in a sustainable toner composition having a hot offset temperature of from about 190° C. to about 220° C.
Abstract:
The disclosure describes a process to produce toner with tunable gloss levels comprising a stabilizer to freeze particle growth following aggregation, where the stabilizer does not chelate metal ions.
Abstract:
Personal care products for maintaining fingernail and toenail appearance. In particular, nail polish compositions that have a formulation that is both safer and more environmentally-friendly to use. The present nail polish compositions comprise anionic polyester resins such as sodio-sulfonated polyesters and sodio-sulfonated co-polyester-co-polysiloxane copolymers as base resin vehicles.
Abstract:
The disclosure describes a process to produce toner with tunable gloss levels comprising a stabilizer to freeze particle growth following aggregation, where the stabilizer does not chelate metal ions.
Abstract:
A method for preparing a pigment dispersion includes a) adding a pigment, a surfactant, and a solvent into a vessel, b) adding magnetic particles into the vessel; and c) applying a varying magnetic field to move the magnetic particles to mill down pigment particle size. A system for preparing a pigment dispersion includes a) a vessel for holding a solution comprising pigment particles, a surfactant and a solvent, b) magnetic particles added to the solution, c) a source for applying a varying magnetic field to move the magnetic particles to mill down pigment particle size, and d) a collector for collecting the magnetic particles for re-using at a later time.
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides a bio-based polyester resin comprising a polyacidic furan, including the manufacture of such polyester resin, which resin may be used in manufacturing toner for imaging devices.
