Abstract:
By providing a line-of-sight-information detection device for detecting an angle of rotation of an eyeball, an individual-difference correction unit for correcting the detected angle of rotation of the eyeball for each individual, an individual-difference preserving unit for preserving line-of-sight information in which individual difference is corrected, a line-of-sight-information processing unit for calculating a line-of-sight position based on the corrected angle of rotation of the eyeball and generating an event at the line-of-sight position, and an event transmission unit for transmitting the event to a host system, it is possible to use line-of-sight information as a new basis for controlling a graphical user interface. Thus, the user's hands are used only on a keyboard, and the functions of a mouse, which has conventionally been operated by the user's hand, can be provided by the user's line of sight. As a result, it is possible, for example, to improve the operational efficiency.

Abstract:
A control method for controlling a printing apparatus configured to print image data and capable of conveying a printed sheet to a postprocessing apparatus configured to trim the printed sheet identifies and manages a region to be cut off by trimming and another region not to be cut off by the trimming and allows a user to easily edit an image included in the region to be cut off by the trimming. The control method includes displaying the image data, editing the displayed image data, obtaining information about a trimming position at which the postprocessing apparatus trims the sheet, and executing control for permitting editing of a first region, which is a region to be cut off by the postprocessing apparatus according to the obtained information and for restricting editing of a second region not to be cut off by trimming by the postprocessing apparatus.
Abstract:
A toner for electrostatic image development containing (a) a toner matrix particle containing a resin binder, and (b) an external additive added to the toner matrix particles, wherein the resin binder contains a polyester A obtained by polycondensing an alcohol component and a carboxylic acid component containing isophthalic acid and/or an ester thereof, and wherein the external additive contains fine silica particles containing a metal or a metal oxide; and A method of forming fixed images including the step of applying the toner for electrostatic image development to an image-forming apparatus according to a non-contact fusing method. The toner for electrostatic image development of the present invention is suitably used in developing latent images formed in, for example, electrophotography, an electrostatic recording method, an electrostatic printing method, or the like.
Abstract:
A process for preparing a toner for electrophotography containing mother toner particles which contain a resin binder containing a crystalline polyester and a linear amorphous polyester and an external additive, wherein the process includes an external addition step of mixing the mother toner particles and at least a part of the external additive and the step of carrying out a heat-treating step at the external addition step or later. Abstract:
A raster image processor (RIP) can process data for one page for each of a plurality of small areas, and handles each individual small area as a display list. Each individual display list holds information required to determine a rendering resolution. The RIP renders a small area including a text object with a high resolution, and a small area which does not include any text object with a low resolution. The RIP renders the respective small areas with the designated resolutions, and temporarily holds the rendering results in a memory for respective small areas. Upon generating a page image, the RIP directly transfers the high-resolution rendering result to a page memory. The RIP transfers the low-resolution rendering result to the page memory with applying an enlarging pixel process to the rendering result.
Abstract:
To prevent falsification of an attribute of data, a mechanism is provided, which encrypt document/image data while holding the attribute contained in electronic document data as a plain text and make it extremely difficult to decrypt the document/image data if the attribute is falsified. A transmitter receives a public key set including a plurality of public keys from a receiver, encrypts the document/image data using a common key, selects a public key from the public key set based on an attribute of the data, encrypts the common key using the selected public key, and transmits the data including the encrypted document/image data, the encrypted common key, and the attribute to the receiver.
