Methods and apparatus to facilitate device-to-device communication with a remote device registered with a communication network are described. One example method may include obtaining an identity information of the second device from an address book, submitting the identity information of the second device to a communication network, estimating device-to-device (D2D) proximity of the second device, generating an indication of the proximity of the second device relative to the first device, and initiating a device-to-device communication session with the second device when the indication is that the second device is proximate.

A method performed by a mobile device entails determining a current location of the mobile device, storing the current location as a breadcrumb (recorded) location of the mobile device, and performing an action with respect to the breadcrumb location when the mobile device has moved away from the breadcrumb location. The action may entail sharing the breadcrumb location with another device. Reverse geocoded address information may be provided for the breadcrumb locations.

An electronic device includes a touch-sensitive display. The touch-sensitive includes a first set of drive electrodes and a first set of sense electrodes configured to detect touches on a first area of the touch-sensitive display, and a second set of drive electrodes and a second set of sense electrodes configured to detect touches on a second area of the touch-sensitive display. At least one controller is operably coupled to the first set of drive electrodes, the first set of sense electrodes, the second set of drive electrodes, and the second set of sense electrodes, and is configured to drive electrodes of the first set of drive electrodes while driving electrodes of the second set of drive electrodes. The first area is different from the second area.

A method and computing device configured to send and receive traffic over a virtual private network (VPN) connection, the computing device having a processor; and a communications subsystem, where the method determines that a first trigger had been met; monitors whether data traffic exists over the VPN connection for a first time period; and if no data traffic exists over the VPN connection for the first time period, disconnects the VPN connection.

A method includes utilizing transmitters and receivers in an electronic device to detect at least one object spaced from a touch-sensitive display of the electronic device, determining first signal values utilizing touch sensors of the touch-sensitive display to obtain baseline noise values when no touch is detected and the transmitters are transmitting, and when a touch is detected, applying the baseline noise values to second signal values to reduce the effect of noise when identifying the touch location.

The device comprises a processor, a memory, and a notification device, the processor enabled to: manage a first workspace and a second workspace distinguished from each other by one or more of: data stored at the memory being associated with one or another of the first workspace and the second workspace; and accounts being associated with the one or the another of the first workspace and the second workspace; and, when a current workspace comprises the first workspace, control the notification device to present first notifications associated only with the first workspace, while second notifications associated with the second workspace are not presented.

A processor accepts a selection of a portion of a displayed image in a selection rectangle frame over the displayed image, based on detecting a first gesture. The processor determines a request for rotation of the displayed selection rectangle frame based on detecting a second gesture. The processor then rotates the selection rectangle frame on the displayed image and resizes the selection rectangle frame while maintaining it within the outer boundaries of the displayed image.

Touch coordinates indicate a location on an outer surface of a touch sensitive screen layer of the touch input display at which a contact interaction is detected. Based on image information from at least one camera and the touch coordinates, a direction of a user's perspective field of view of the location on the touch sensitive screen layer is determined. A location on one of the at least one display layer that visibly matches the location corresponding to the touch coordinates on the touch sensitive screen layer along the direction of a user's perspective field of view is determined. One or more display elements are displayed at the determined location on the one of the at least one display layer.

A user equipment receives control information relating to selecting one or more of plural options to use for delivery of assistance information including at least one parameter relating to setting a threshold for in-device coexistence (IDC) interference.
