Abstract:
A plier for inserting and removing retaining rings and other purposes. The plier is convertible for alternately closing and opening of the jaws as the handles are closed. The handles and jaws are rotatable about a pivot shaft. Cams effect movement of the key members between a first position wherein a first key member connects a first handle to a first jaw and a second key member connects a second handle to a first jaw whereby the jaws move inwardly as the handles move inwardly and a second position wherein the first key member connects the first handle to the second jaw and the second key member connects the second handle to the first jaw whereby the jaws move outwardly as the handles are moved inwardly. The plier includes a storage cavity for tips and tip change tools.
Abstract:
Footwear with single or double vamp sections comprising a split tongue including a rearward tongue portion which is firmly attached along one side thereof to a medial vamp section of the shoe. While the rearward tongue portion is firmly connected to a medial vamp section, the connection may be permanent or replaceable. A forward tongue portion may be integrally formed with the forward upper, or be an extension of the forward upper, or be secured to the forward upper along a transverse edge and/or to one or both of the vamp sections, or be secured to one of the vamp sections only. One or both tongue portions may be formed to have pockets for receiving cushioning members and/or saddle members to reduce pressure on the instep. The forward edge of the rearward tongue portion overlies the rearward edge of the forward tongue portion in the working position. The split tongue arrangement, particularly with the rearward tongue portion being attached to the medial vamp section, eliminates slippage of the tongue to the lateral side of the foot during use of the footwear while protection and comfort is provided by the cushioning members and/or saddle members.
Abstract:
A shoe that includes an outsole having a plurality of gripping portions, the locus of the gripping portions defining a path extending from the outermost portion of the shoe below the small toe generally toward the ball of the foot at the large toe, with the portions contacting the ground sequentially along the path as the front portion of the outsole sets down. Also disclosed in providing a shoe outsole with a plurality of channels which have a first narrow region having a first width and an adjacent region having a larger width so as to permit deformable foreign matter such as food that collects in the first region to be discharged into the second region, which is sufficiently wider than the first region as to cause discharge of the matter.
Abstract:
In an athletic shoe, a system for conveying air into the shoe in which an air reservoir in the resilient outsole assembly is open to a first transverse air channel which opens in turn to the surrounding air, a longitudinal air slot in the outsole assembly is open to the air reservoir, a first vertical hole in the top of the outsole assembly is open to the air slot and to a second vertical air hole in the insole board, the second vertical hole in turn is open to an air channel in the bottom of the slipsole, and the slipsole air channel is open to third vertical holes in the slipsole which open into the inside of the shoe under the user's foot; the air reservoir, air slot, first air holes and second air holes can lie on the midline of the sole assembly; and the slipsole air channels can be arranged in a grid covering the entire bottom of the slipsole with the first air holes, second air holes and third air holes arranged at the intersection points on the grid.
Abstract:
An example system coupled to a rollator for monitoring usage of the rollator, includes a grip assembly and/or a hip sensing assembly. The grip assembly includes a first sensor configured to detect a force applied to the first sensor. The hip sensing assembly includes a second sensor configured to measure a distance between the second sensor and a hip of the user positioned with respect to the rollator. A microcontroller is electronically coupled in signal communication with the first sensor, the second sensor, and a feedback circuitry. When the force applied to the first sensor exceeds a first threshold, the microcontroller activates the feedback circuitry to generate a first response indicating that the first threshold has been exceeded. When the distance exceeds a second threshold, the microcontroller activates the feedback circuitry to generate a second response indicating that the second threshold has been exceeded.
Abstract:
An apparatus for selectively removing material from both an inner and outer circumference of an end of a tubular workpiece includes a cylindrical outer frame. A blade holder is affixed to the outer frame. The blade holder has a conical configuration with a base located adjacent a first rim of the outer frame and an apex located adjacent a second rim of the outer frame. At least one ID blade is carried by the blade holder and has an ID cutting edge oriented radially outward. At least one OD blade is carried by the blade holder and has an OD cutting edge oriented radially inward. A motive cap has a rim-coupling feature configured for selective engagement sequentially with the first and second rims of the outer frame, to selectively provide rotational motion to the outer frame and thus indirectly to the blade holder.
Abstract:
A bending wheel of a tube bending apparatus includes a tube-accepting recess, proximal and distal wheel faces, and a rotation recess. The proximal wheel face includes a lever pivot anchor. A cam insert includes a shaft having a tool driving feature. The shaft is configured for selective insertion into the rotation recess. The cam insert includes a camming flange, which includes a lever urging feature. A keeper lever includes a keeper finger rigidly connected to a laterally extending lever arm and extending longitudinally from the proximal wheel face. An anchor end of the lever arm includes an arm pivot feature and a spaced-apart cam following feature configured to interact with the lever urging feature. Rotation of the cam insert causes rotation of the lever urging feature to drive the cam following feature of the keeper lever and pivot the lever arm in the same rotational direction.
Abstract:
Pliers (20) include first and second pivotally interconnected plier arms (22, 32) each having a handle (24, 34) and a jaw (26, 36). The plier handles (24, 34) are operable to manipulate the plier jaws (26, 36). The pliers (20) also include a latch mechanism (300) for alternately latching the pliers (20) in a closed condition and releasing the pliers to an open condition in response to successive applications of squeeze to the plier arms (22, 32).

Abstract:
A recyclable ring binder apparatus comprises a ring metal incorporating a set of binder rings that are formed of a pair of ring halves. The ring metal can be firmly fastened to a spine section of a binder hardcover by utilizing a post and a small arched snap clamp with a tap. The tap of the snap clamp can be pressed around a neck of the post utilizing a quick release clipping mechanism. The snap clamp can be accessed with an index finger and slid away from the post to remove the ring metal from the hardcover. The ring metal, the hardcover, the snap clamp and the post can be quickly separated into their perspective categories due to the clipping mechanism. Hence, it retains conformance of all components of the ring binder apparatus for recycling without increasing development and production cost.
