All annular ring elements composed of tungsten carbide are produced directly from tungsten carbide plate. Using an electrical discharge machining apparatus employing a preformed cylindrical electrode, an aperture of predetermined diameter is drilled through a planar, tungsten carbide plate. Using a wire electric discharge machining apparatus, annular blanks are cut from the planar tungsten carbide plate, the outer surface of the annular blank being cylindrical and concentric with the inner, drilled surface of the annular blank. The inner and outer surfaces of the tungsten carbide annular blanks are cooperatively machined to allow additional annular elements composed of tungsten carbide and other materials to be integrally coupled to one another to form jewelry in the form of rings.

Thus the metal body and the hard metal element can be bonded together securely. The valuable ornament body thus formed has a greater hardness. The bonding of different metals also provides a novel design different from the conventional ornaments.

A sizable ring and method of fabricating the same is disclosed. A first version comprises a first ring member, made of a hard metal (e.g., titanium), having a protrusion at each end thereof. The protrusions engage a second ring member made of a soft precious metal. The ring may then be sized in a conventional manner by cutting through the second ring member and adding or removing precious metal. In a second version, a link member includes pins at each end which engage openings or cavities in ends of one or more additional ring members. Other versions include rings with multiple link members. The methods disclosed herein are ideal for titanium rings.
