A height adjustable leveling apparatus in the form of a rotary scraper is supported within the storage container which engages the uppermost portion of the heaped material and spreads it for leveling the upper surface of the material. Whereby the storage container may be filled to an upper level surface maximizing the useful volume of the storage container. Discharge from a central or peripheral port is likewise maximized by ensuring all material in the container to the discharge level is fed for reclamation.

A method of producing a silage removal channel. The method comprises the steps of disposing an inflatable tube within an empty silo, inflating the tube, filling the silo with feedstuff, deflating the tube and then withdrawing the same from the interior of the silo to create the silage removal channel within the feedstuff. The created channel is disposed from the uppermost surface of the feedstuff to a discharge port disposed in the exterior wall of the silo. When required feedstuff is introduced into the mouth of the channel, it gravitates through the channel to the discharge port where it may be removed from the silo.

An apparatus for removing bulk materials from a laterally enclosed storage area wherein the apparatus may be substantially buried within the bulk material (11). The apparatus includes a support column (16) mounted at a base into a support floor (25). An auger (17) is attached by an axial mount at the base of the support column for enabling rotational inclination of the auger from (i) a vertical orientation vertical orientation wherein the auger is nearly parallel with the vertical axis of the support column, (ii) through intermediate angles of inclination (54), to (iii) a substantially horizontal orientation (55) wherein the auger is adjacent to the support floor. The suspension cable (61) is coupled between the support column and auger to enable selective adjustment of auger inclination. A rotational displacement drive (35) is coupled to the support column to rotate the column about its vertical axis, along with the attached auger. A rotational drive motor (51) is mounted at a distal end of the auger. Rotation of the auger, along with revolution of the support column provide for progressive removal of conical layers of surface material with each 360 degree revolution. Continued inclination to the horizontal level enables the total volume of the storage area to be out loaded. A secondary auger (110) removes bulk material from in front of the drive motor (51).

In the silo a draw-off shaft is in the form of a telescopic gravity-descent tube, via which the bulk material removed by the clearing unit is conveyed out of the silo.In this invention the clearing unit is connected via a bearing to a bridge girder which extends transversely across through the silo and which at its ends is guided in vertical guides on the silo wall. The operating forces are transmitted to the silo wall via the bridge girder.
