Embodiments of product handling systems facilitate transfer of individual product items from incoming bulk form into dedicated trays for inspection, sorting, selection, and packaging. Inspection may comprise interrogation of product items within a tray by electromagnetic (e.g., optical, hyperspectral) or other (e.g., physical, acoustic, gas sensing, etc.) techniques. Prior to packaging, product items disposed within the tray may be stored in a moveable carousel responsible for controlling environmental factors such as temperature, humidity, illumination, ambient gases, product-to-product interactions, and/or others. Movement of product items from a carousel's transfer station to an outside staging position may be accomplished using robots and/or conveyor belts. Embodiments may allow rapid, low-cost consumer selection of specific individual product items based upon their accompanying metadata (e.g., source, identifier), in combination with the results of inspection (e.g., visual appearance). Embodiments may receive product items pre-packaged in tray format to expedite inspection, sorting, selection, and packaging.

A grain bag unloading device which is compact and reduces farm operating expenses by unloading grain from an elongated grain bag to a position adjacent to the grain bag such that the grain may be further moved using an existing grain elevator or the like. The device includes a spool coupled to a frame. An actuator rotates the spool to pull a grain bag onto the spool. Wheels facilitate movement of the frame as the grain bag is pulled onto the spool. A gathering mechanism urges grain in the grain bag towards a collection area. A first end of a collector is operationally coupled to the gathering mechanism such that the collector is dispenses the grain from the collection area.

An apparatus and method for unloading a grain or particulate matter large capacity storage bin. The apparatus includes a bin with a cylindrical side wall. A relatively large opening is provided in the side wall. A box frame is generally vertically installed to the inside of the bin and intersects the opening in the side of the bin. A plurality of inlets into the box frame are spaced apart along the inner most side of the box frame. The box frame defines a channel that intersects with the opening in the bin. The plurality of smaller openings control the flow of particulate matter into the channel to allow control but fast unloading of the bin by gravity.

This invention relates to a top loading, top unloading bottom discharge, ring drive silo unloader that is adapted for use with a hexapod suspension. The unloader features a stationary support frame with an open center concept. The support frame includes three main support members joined together to form a triangular frame. Three bracing members are added to the support frame to form an interior perimeter with a generally hexagon shape that delineates the open central area. A rotating drive ring is suspended from the support frame. An electric motor drives a chain loop that engages the exterior surface of the drive ring and causes it to rotate. A gathering mechanism that includes a subframe with a telescoping tubular support is suspended from the rotating drive ring. An auger is suspended from the tubular support. The telescoping tubular support is designed to permit installation adjustment so that the silo unloader can fit into a range of silo diameters and accommodate warpage in the round shape of the silo wall. The tubular support and auger are pitched at an angle of about six degrees to facilitate the distribution and gathering of silage across the top layer of the silage. The auger is driven by an electric motor having a drive shaft in line with the auger shaft. Power is supplied to the auger motor via a collector ring. The collector ring is mounted on a tower extending from the tubular support. A double pivoting wall wheel is secured to the end of the tubular support. A hole former is also secured to the tubular support and can be automatically power driven from a central loading position to a offset storage or unloading position. An on-board winch assembly may also be provided to raise and lower the silo unloader.

Silo for storing solidify loose material, especially flue ash, which has a conveyor which can be moved on the surface of the stored material and which feeds the material loosened there to a conveyor device located in the silo which brings it to an exit opening provided on the silo floor. This conveyor device is simply and effectively constructed in accordance with the invention by forming it by a falling series of aeration devices on an essentially vertical silo wall. This silo wall is advantageously the circumference of a column provided in the center of the silo. In a first embodiment the mechanically separated and pneumatically loosened material passes through slideless openings into the inner space in the column, from which it is removed at the bottom. In a second embodiment the aeration devices are arranged on the circumference of the column in such a compact series that they result in the formation of an emptying column which follows the column surface and is filled by material fluidized by aeration.

Adjacent to each of the doors (16) in the silo (10), a hoop (34) is positioned, and an elongated flexible tube member (38) is suspended from each hoop (34) extending so as to hang into the hoop (34) next therebeneath. Thus, silage introduced into a one of the hoops (34) enters the tube member (38) hanging therefrom and falls successively through each successive tube member (38) therebeneath.

A method of discharging particulate material from a hopper which minimizes vibration and impact loading is disclosed. The method provides a centrally located discharge column having a series of discharge openings extending vertically of an annular mass of particulate material in the hopper. The particulate material is discharged from a generally conically shaped, downwardly and inwardly directed, top portion of said mass of particulate material, progressively downwardly, through a choked flow discharge path provided by the interior of the discharge column.
