    摘要: An electrophotographic developer comprising a toner and a carrier is disclosed. The toner contains a toner binder resin, a colorant and a releasing agent, and a carrier contains a magnetic particles dispersed in a carrier binder resin, wherein the releasing agent contained in toner is composed of from 40 to 98% by weight of a first releasing agent component of an ester compound and 60 to 2% by weight of a second releasing agent component of a hydrocarbon compound having a branched-chain structure, and the carrier has a shape coefficient SF-1 of from 1.0 to 1.2 and a shape coefficient S-2 of from 1.1 to 2.5, and a volume based median diameter of from 10 to 100 μm.

    摘要: A carrier core material for an electrophotographic developing agent, which comprises 100 parts by weight of a ferrite component represented by a formula (A) and 0.1 to 5.0 parts by weight of ZrO2 that is present in the ferrite component without forming a solid solution, and which has a magnetization, at 1000(103/4π·A/m), of 65 to 85 Am2/kg and an electrical resistance, at an applied voltage of 1000 V, of 105 to 109 Ω. Also disclosed is a two-component developing agent comprising a coated carrier, which is obtained by coating the above carrier core material with a resin, and toner particles. Further disclosed is an image forming method comprising developing an electrostatic latent image formed by the use of an alternating electric field, with the two-component developing agent. The carrier core material and the coated carrier have high magnetization and high resistance. According to the two-component developing agent of the invention, an excellent image can be formed.

    摘要: An image forming apparatus is provided for obtaining excellent developing properties using toner with small particle diameters and for forming high-quality visual images. In a developing device of an image forming apparatus, a two-component developer is used which satisfies conditions that volume mean particle diameter dt of a toner is 3˜5 &mgr;m (Condition 1), volume mean particle diameter dc of a carrier is 5 dt˜10 dt (Condition 2), and a weight ratio Rw of the toner and the carrier is 1.6 (dt/dc) ×(&rgr;t/&rgr;c)˜2.4 (dt/dc)×(&rgr;t/&rgr;c) (Condition 3, where &rgr;t and &rgr;c are density of the toner and the carrier, respectively). A main magnetic pole M of a rotary sleeve is arranged in the vicinity of the closest position of the rotary sleeve and an image forming body, and the closest distance D between the rotary sleeve and the image forming body satisfies a condition that D is 0.5 H˜0.8 H for the free tip height H of a magnetic brush B of the main magnetic pole M. It is preferable that the actual supplied amount of the toner is regulated within a specific range.
