    摘要: With respect to a rotational direction of a rotatable developing member of a developing device, an opposing position where a regulating portion of the developing device is opposed to an outer peripheral surface of the rotatable developing member is between a first maximum position and a position where a magnetic flux density of a regulating pole in a tangential direction relative to the outer peripheral surface of the rotatable developing member is zero. With respect to the rotational direction of the rotatable developing member, the position where the magnetic flux density of the regulating pole in the tangential direction relative to the outer peripheral surface of the rotatable developing member is zero is within a range of ±2° of a midpoint between the first maximum position and a second maximum position or is downstream of the range.

The developer bearing member includes a magnetic member and a sleeve provided around the magnetic member rotatably around the magnetic member. The sleeve includes a metal substrate with a surface having projections and recesses and a plating layer covering the surface of the metal substrate. The plating layer contains chromium and cobalt. The developer contains a toner and the toner includes toner particles. The toner particles each include a toner mother particle and external additive particles attached to the surface of the toner mother particle. The toner mother particles contain a binder resin and a magnetic powder. The external additive particles include alumina particles with surfaces that are hydrophobized.

With respect to a rotational direction of the supplying roller, an angle between maximum magnetic flux density positions of the second and third magnetic poles is smaller than an angle between maximum magnetic flux density positions of the third and fourth magnetic poles.

The magnetic force on a surface of a developing sleeve at a position corresponding to each of the plurality of magnetic poles is determined by (i) a distance from each of the plurality of magnetic poles to the developing sleeve in a radial direction of the developing sleeve and (ii) a magnitude of magnetic force in each of the plurality of magnetic poles. The distances from the plurality of magnetic poles to the developing sleeve in the radial direction are different.

    摘要: An image forming apparatus includes a developer storage portion, a developing roller, a magnetic force generating portion, and an image carrying member. The magnetic force generating portion is provided in the developing roller and generates a magnetic force for keeping the developer on an outer circumferential surface of the developing roller. The image carrying member is disposed to face the developing roller across a predetermined developing gap, is rotationally driven, receives the toner from the developer supplied to the developing gap by the developing roller, and keeps a toner image on an outer circumferential surface of the image carrying member. The image forming apparatus, during non image formation, supplies a more amount of developer to the developing gap than an amount of developer for developing supplied to the developing gap during image formation such that the outer circumferential surface of the image carrying member is cleaned.
