Abstract: A self-contained vault unit which contains a plurality of safety deposit boxes is disclosed. The vault apparatus includes means which define a secure interior chamber in which the safety deposit boxes are positioned. An entrance into the chamber is secured and selectively openable, preferably by security personnel. A plurality of elongated rows of cabinet sections are arranged in a substantially parallel relationship. The cabinet sections define a plurality of openings having preselected cross-sectional outlines which are proportioned for receiving the safety deposit boxes. Each of the boxes includes a lock for securing the box within the cabinet section upon moving the box to its closed position. A plurality of booths are strategically positioned about the vault apparatus for the convenience of customers to inspect the box contents.

Abstract: An improved modular type safety deposit box system. In preferred form, each module is comprised of the same basic casing structure, and an initially separate door frame structure, these two components then being assembled into a completed module after pre-assembly of each component. Each module's casing may be subdivided into more than one compartment by use of a plurality of standardized horizontal dividers and, if desired, standardized vertical dividers, the dividers being arranged as desired in operative engagement with the casing through a slot and tab structure. Each module's door frame is comprised of a hoop-shaped frame adapted to be subdivided into a plurality of access ports corresponding to the same number of compartments provided in the basic casing. The doors for each access port of the frame may be installed to hinge from one side of the frame if no vertical dividers are used in the casing, or from a center hinge post fixed in the frame if vertical dividers are used in the casing. The modules are retained together in a matrix-like system one on top another, as well as one adjacent to another, by a series of vertical interlocking bars adapted to connect together adjacent columns of modules stacked one on top another.

Abstract: A heat resistant cabinet having one or more compartments for storing articles. Each compartment comprises a rectangular container having a hermetically sealable cover. The containers are each individually supported by a conventional file drawer suspension mechanism for movement into and out of corresponding bays in the cabinet casing. One or more cells are formed in the container walls. A particulate mixture having heat absorbing characteristics is contained in such cells and thus the filled portion of each cell serves as a heat sink under conditions where the unit is exposed to intense external heat. By using filler materials having a high heat of fusion the temperature in the inner container is temporarily stabilized when the melting point of the substance employed is exceeded. At least one conductive plate is mounted within each cell in contact with the filler to aid in the transfer of heat thereto.

Abstract: A storage apparatus having a keyless lock/unlock system. The storage apparatus may including a housing having a storage cavity and a door may be coupled to the housing. A handle is coupled to the door and defines a handle cavity. The locking system includes an electronics assembly and a locking mechanism that are in operable communication. The electronics assembly includes a reader component and an indicator component that are located within the handle cavity. The indicator component is visible through a window in the handle. When the reader component receives credential data which is then authenticated, the locking system transitions between a locked configuration whereby the locking mechanism is locked and the indicator component is in a first display state and an unlocked configuration whereby the locking mechanism is unlocked and the indicator component is in a second display state. The indicator component may be electronic paper.

Abstract: A system for controlling access to a secure room containing a plurality of safety deposit boxes, comprises a motion detector, a biometric sensor, and a plurality of contact sensors, wherein each of the safety deposit boxes is associated with at least two contact sensors. The system includes a processor that is configured to unlock the gate when a plurality of access conditions are satisfied, which may include: collecting via the biometric sensor a biometric sensor a biometric credential that matches a reference biometric credential in a user database; and determining the secure room is unoccupied based on at least a predetermined period of no motion detected by the at least one motion sensor. The processor may also be configured to generate a box-accessed event identifying one of the safety deposit boxes when all of the contact sensors associated with that safety deposit box are simultaneously opened.

Abstract: A locker assembly insert 10 for a cabinet 11. The cabinet 11 is a two door cabinet having a first door 12 and a second door 13. A central mullion 19 having a rear cover plate divides the cabinet 11 down the middle and the doors 12 and 13 close the cabinet. The locker assembly insert 10 in this case is applied to a two door cabinet and has a central support member 20 (which is put in place by first removing the rear cover plate behind the central mullion 19, the rear cover plate is tucked in behind the central support member 20 before assembly allowing it to be reused if the refrigerator is ever restored to its original condition). The insert is completed using vertical divider sets 27, 28 and 29 and ten door locker door assemblies 30 and 31.
