摘要： High frequency diodes are manufactured by methods in which extended dual mesas are formed upon a conductive substrate, one mesa incorporating the active junction and the other supporting the active mesa in reduced parasitic capacitive relation, with the substrate supporting the combination of mesas and with an efficient heat sink cooperating with the active mesa. Novel ringshaped diodes made according to the method feature a high degree of circular symmetry and therefore freedom from burn out, thermal compression bonding being used to perfect the bond between the active mesa and a diamond heat sink. Symmetry of the diode is assured by use of a novel photoresist mask generation technique.

Two embodiments or species of the improved first table are disclosed, both of which operate in a first one of the two modes to lift the bale, initially resting on its flat side, upwardly through an approximate 90* arcuate path and deposit the bale on its edge side on the second table and in a second one of the two modes to initially lift the bale upwardly at its longitudinal portion located near the second table and thereby dispose the bale in a tilted position with its lower flat side directed upwardly toward the second table and then to push the tilted bale upwardly toward the second table and deposit it on the second table on its lower flat side.

摘要： A compact stack forming machine, having a mobile chassis adapted to move across a field, includes an upright delivery tube mounted on the chassis with a pickup mounted at its lower end adjacent the field for picking up crop material from the field and propelling the crop material through the tube and into a stack forming chamber, being mounted on the chassis rearwardly of the tube and pickup, through a first open end toward an opposite second end of the chamber with sufficient velocity to substantially reach the second end thereof, a carriage frame extending across the chamber and moveable between the chamber ends with a baffle member being moveably mounted thereon for at least partially deflecting the propelling crop material from time to time during movement of the carriage frame to distribute the crop material within the chamber between the ends thereof and thereby progressively form a stack of the crop material in the chamber, and a packing roll extending across the chamber below the baffle member and moveable between the chamber ends to compact the distributed crop material as the stack is progressively formed in the chamber.

摘要： Apparatus for monitoring the operation of pairs of step data compasses, each being of the type which produces a number of phase-displaced pulses dependent upon the rotation of the compass. The apparatus includes circuits to form separate trains of UP or DOWN pulses in response to direction and magnitude of rotation of each compass. Each category of UP and DOWN pulses is stored in a separate pulse storage circuit and then sequentially clocked into an up-down difference counter. When the net change in the difference counter exceeds predetermined upper or lower limits, a corresponding pulse is applied to a difference accumulator. An alarm is actuated when the count stored in the difference accumulator reaches a value equal to that of an adjustable digital alarm set.

摘要： A geothermal energy transfer and utilization system makes use of thermal energy stored in hot solute-bearing well water to generate super-heated steam from an injected flow of clean water; the super-heated steam is then used for operating a novel turbine for driving a hot water pump at the well bottom for pumping the hot solute-bearing water at high pressure and in liquid state to the earth''s surface, where transfer of its heat content to a closed-loop boiler-turbine-alternator combination is effected for the generation of electrical or other power. Clean water is regenerated by surface-located equipment for re-injection into the deep well and the residual concentrated solute-bearing water is pumped back into the earth. The novel pump driving turbine features a compact and efficient steam turbine configuration adapted for use in the hostile environment of the deep hot-water well. Super-heated steam passes downwardly to impact turbine blades at the periphery of the turbine wheel. A further feature permits the expanding steam then to reverse its sense of flow in a compact arrangement returning the steam along the axis of the turbine wheel and then to the earth''s surface for further energy recovery.

Significant axial thrust is developed in the support bearing system of the steam turbine driven hot water pump because of the considerable pressure head rise generated by the hot water pump, the axial thrust being proportional to the hot water pump discharge pressure. According to the invention, a balancing thrust is developed that is also proportional to pump discharge pressure, so that the net thrust is minimized over a range of speed and hot water flow conditions.
