Abstract: A patient simulation system for healthcare training is provided. The system includes one or more interchangeable shells comprising a physical anatomical model of at least a portion of a patient's body, the shell adapted to be illuminated from behind to provide one or more dynamic images viewable on the outer surface of the shells; a support system adapted to receive the shells via a mounting system, wherein the system comprises one or more image units adapted to render the one or more dynamic images viewable on the outer surface of the shells; one or more interface devices located about the patient shells to receive input and provide output; and one or more computing units in communication with the image units and interface devices, the computing units adapted to provide an interactive simulation for healthcare training.

Abstract: A multi-modal display device is presented. The display device has a shell having an internal projection screen and an opening, a projector emitting a projection beam from inside the shell. There is an optical guide adjusting a position of the projector to aim the projection beam at either the internal projection screen or the opening. A processor coupled to the optical guide may select a display position, wherein different display positions are associated with different display area sizes. The method includes determining a distance between a projector and a user, and automatically selecting a display mode based on the distance.

Abstract: A front projection display device is provided including an image-generating source configured to generate an image, a wide angle lens system adapted to receive the image, and a screen. The wide angle lens system may be configured to increase distortion of the image in a first stage and decrease distortion of the image in a second stage. The screen may be configured to receive the image from the wide angle lens system on a first side and reflect the image back to a viewer on the first side. In another embodiment, a screen is provided for a front projection system, the screen may be configured to receive light from a steep angle and may include any number of surface topographies configured to reflect light back to the viewer along a desired viewing plane.

Abstract: An immersive all-in-one PC system includes a housing having an outer wall, in inner wall connected to the outer wall, and a cavity between the outer and inner walls. The inner wall has one or more surfaces defining a chamber within the housing. The housing includes at least one entranceway bridging the outer and inner walls for a person to enter and exit the chamber. A projector screen is disposed internally of the outer wall and arranged to project images onto the chamber side of the inner wall for providing an immersive viewing experience to a person situated inside the chamber. A computer system is disposed at least partially within the cavity with the computer system being connected to the projector system for controlling the projected images.
