摘要： The present invention deals with flexible wall dams used for restricting the flow of rivers, seawaters, or the like, using in combination: an upstanding, continuous, impermeable, inextensible, reinforced, flexible wall having elongated upper and lower peripheral edges, with the lower edge positively and substantially sealingly secured to the base of the waterbed by being inserted into a curvaceous longitudinal channel anchored to the waterbed, and the upper edge supported by means of floating vessels, transferring their loads through anchoring cables to points upstream.

摘要： A collapsible rubber dam installation comprising a rubber dam built across a watercourse such as a river or the like and operative to be raised by supplying fluid such as air, water or the like. The dam is collapsed by discharging the fluid therein into atmosphere. A fluid supply and discharge conduit have one end connected to the inside of the rubber dam at a position which is higher than at least a level of drain collected therein and have the other end extending substantially upwardly with an ascending inclination.

摘要： The invention relates to a floodgate for use with an earthen levee having a cut therein. The floodgate includes a generally rectangular piece of sheet material having sufficient dimensions to cover the area of the levee defining the cut when the floodgate is in its water-passing position. The floodgate further includes an elongated relatively rigid pole having a length greater than the width of the cut in the levee. A loop is formed in the piece of sheet material along one end thereof, generally across the width thereof, and having a void area encompassed thereby at least as great as the cross-sectional area of the pole so that the pole may be received by the loop, and so that the pole may be rotated to wrap the sheet material around the pole while the pole is received by the loop. Preferably, the sheet is polyethylene having ultra-violet inhibitor, about 14 to 16 mils thick, and about 9 feet by 4 or more feet.

摘要： This invention relates to water-retaining barrier means for a watercourse such as a river. The barrier means includes at least one flexible membrane forming an inflatable enclosure and secured to or otherwise incorporated in said enclosure as a rigid member which extends along the whole length thereof. The ends of this rigid member are arranged to bear against the banks of a watercourse in such a fashion that any stresses exerted on the barrier are transferred to the watercourse banks. In practising this invention rigid blocks may be built on the sides of the watercourse to form abutment members against which the ends of the rigid member are applied. The inflatable enclosure may be in the shape of a ''V'' with the apex of the ''V'' pointing upstream, and in this case two rigid members are incorporated with the enclosure the one ends of these rigid members being connected together at the apex of the V. In such a case also the inflatable enclosure may be in two parts particularly in the form of two frustra of a cone joined together by their major bases so that they also form a V shape. The invention also provides a method of positioning such a barrier means and also a method for damming a watercourse using such a barrier means.
