Abstract: Narrow width fiber optic connectors having spring loaded remote release mechanisms to facilitate access and usage of the connectors in high density arrays. A narrow width fiber optic connector comprises a multi-fiber connector, wherein a width of said narrow width fiber optic connector is less than about 5.25 mm, a housing configured to hold the multi-fiber connector and further comprising a connector recess, and a pull tab having a ramp area configured to disengage a latch of one of an adapter and an SFP from said connector recess. The pull tab may include a spring configured to allow the latch of one of the adapter and the SFP to engage with the connector recess.

Abstract: A micro connector kit includes first and second ferrules and first and second micro connector ferrule housings. Each first and second micro connector ferrule housing defines a cavity sized and shaped to receive a respective one of the first and second ferrules with the first and second ferrules being disposed in closely spaced relation with the respective first or second micro connector ferrule housing when in each cavity. Abstract: An optical connection system for use with a receptacle and an optical cable assembly includes an adapter and connector. The adapter has an adapter latch element, and the connector has a connector latch element. A delatch actuator with a delatch arm is disposed on the connector housing for movement from a locking position to an unlocking position. One of the adapter latch element and connector latch element is a bendable latch hook and the other is a locking channel. When the connector housing is mated with the adapter, the delatch arm allows the bendable latch hook to latch with the locking channel in the locking position and unlatches the bendable latch hook from the locking channel as it moves to the unlocking position. An actuator lock movably supports a blocking member on the connector for selectively blocking the delatch actuator from moving to the unlocking position.

Abstract: Reduced-profile connection components are described. The reduced-profile connection components are configured to connect various data transmission elements, including cables, network devices, and computing devices. A non-limiting example of a connection component includes a fiber optic connection component, including connectors, adapters, and assemblies formed therefrom. In some embodiments, the connection components may include mechanical transfer (MT) and multi-fiber push-on/pull-off (MPO) connection components, such as MT ferrules and MPO adapters. The reduced-profile connection components configured according to some embodiments have a smaller profile and/or require less parts to achieve a connection compared to conventional connection components. In some embodiments, the reduced-profile connection components may be used with conventional connection components. For example a reduced-profile connector may use a conventional MT ferrule to establish a connection within a conventional MPO adapter.

Abstract: A fiber optic adapter for mating with a fiber optic connector includes an adapter housing. The adapter housing includes a wall and an opening that accepts the fiber optic connector. An optical alignment axis extends through the adapter housing and passes through the opening of the adapter housing. A guide is disposed on the wall of the outer housing. The guide comprises a cam surface located inward of the opening, facing toward the opening, and extending along an axis that is transverse to the optical alignment axis. The cam surface is arranged for engaging the fiber optic connector inserted into the opening along an insertion axis that is divergent from the optical alignment axis to drive the fiber optic connector substantially into alignment with the optical alignment axis as the fiber optic connector traverses the cam surface upon being pushed farther into the adapter housing.
