Abstract: A method and apparatus managing a set of processors for a set of queries is described. In an exemplary embodiment, a device provision a set of computing resources of a database system, the set of computing resources to process a set of queries of the database system and determines a utilization of the set of computing resources during processing of the set of queries. The device further updates the set of computing resources based on the utilization of the set of computing resources by the set of queries. Updating the set of computing resources includes updating a number of processors and a set of storage resources to process the set of queries of the database system, the set of storage resources being shared by each of the processors and processes the set of queries using the set of computing resources as updated.

An example computer-implemented method can include providing a data exchange by a cloud computing service on behalf of an entity. The data exchange may comprise several data listings provided by one or more data providers. The data listings reference one or more data sets stored in a data storage platform associated with the cloud computing service. The method may also include granting access the data listings, gathering consumer information based queries provided to data associated with the data listings, generating a new share comprising the consumer information, and granting access of the new share to the data provider that provided the data listing.

Abstract: Example systems and methods for cloning catalog objects are described. In one implementation, a method includes creating a copy of a catalog object without copying a data associated with the catalog object by only coping metadata associated with the object. The method further includes modifying, by one or more processors, the data associated with the catalog object independently of the copy of the catalog object such that modified data is not visible to the copy of the catalog object and wherein the modified data is not visible to the catalog object in a database. The method further includes deleting the copy of the catalog object following completion of the modification of the data associated with the catalog object.

Abstract: The subject technology executes a change on an existing micro-partition of a table, the executing of the change comprising generating a new micro-partition that embodies the change and deleting the existing micro-partition. The subject technology receives a request for a delta for the table between a first timestamp and a second timestamp. The subject technology responsively determines the delta based on a table history, the delta including information indicating at least one operation that was performed to at least one row of a set of rows of the table, without including information as to intermediate changes made to at least one row of the set of rows of the table between the first timestamp and the second timestamp, that facilitates a reduction in storage of historical versions of the set of rows of the table.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices for querying over an external table are disclosed. A method includes connecting a database platform to an external table such that the database platform has read access for the external table and does not have write access for the external table. The method includes receiving a query comprising a predicate, the query directed at least to data in the external table. The method includes determining, based on metadata, one or more partitions in the external table comprising data satisfying the predicate. The method includes pruning, based on the metadata, all partitions in the external table that do not comprise any data satisfying the predicate. The method includes generating a query plan comprising a plurality of discrete subtasks. The method includes assigning, based on the metadata, the plurality of discrete subtasks to one or more nodes in an execution platform.
