摘要： A connector assembly is provided for engagement with a mating connector and a coaxial device. The connector assembly includes a body member attachable to the coaxial device. The body member is also attachable to the mating connector. An outer contact spring is provided with an annular base for threadably connecting to the body member. The annular base has a plurality of spring fingers extending longitudinally away from the annular base, each one of the plurality of spring fingers includes a base end and a distal end. Each adjacent pair of the spring fingers define a longitudinal slit that is narrow enough to prevent inward flexure of the spring fingers beyond a point where the flexed spring finger contacts an adjacent spring finger.

摘要： A method and structure of an electrical connector is provided for tuning the impedance of the connector according to a given impedance of an electrical circuit in which the connector is interconnected. The connector includes a dielectric housing having a receptacle for receiving a complementary electrical component. A plurality of terminals are mounted on the housing. The terminals include body portions located in the housing and contact portions for engaging respective contacts on the electrical component. The body portions include mechanically non-functional sections of a given area which effect a given capacitance. The mechanically non-functional sections are selectively trimmable to selectively vary the area thereof and thereby vary the capacitance of the terminals and, therefore, the impedance of the connector to match the given impedance of the electrical circuit. The connector includes a plurality of signal terminals and a plurality of ground terminals. The signal terminals and ground terminals are in an alternating array lengthwise along the receptacle, with each signal terminal being aligned with a ground terminals on opposite transverse sides of the receptacle, and the ground terminals have significantly larger transverse areas than the signal terminals. The ground terminals have at least two points of contact for engaging a common ground circuit on the printed circuit board for reducing the inductance between a particular ground terminal and its respective circuit trace.

摘要： A universal grounding clip is provided for a card-receiving connector which is mounted on a printed circuit board. The connector includes a generally U-shaped housing having guide arms adapted to guide the outside edges of a PC card into mating engagement with the connector. The PC card includes grounding contacts along the outside edges of the card. The universal grounding clip is mounted on each guide arm and includes a contact portion on an inside surface of the respective guide arm for engaging the corresponding grounding contact at the edge of the PC card during insertion of the card and discharging static electricity from the card prior to complete mating of the card and connector. A grounding pad on the grounding clip is provided along a bottom surface of the respective arm and is adapted to be electrically coupled to a ground circuit on the printed circuit board. A grounding pad is also provided along a top surface of the arm for engaging a bottom ground portion of a top stacked connector. The grounding pads of the grounding clip are cut-away to allow a fastening device to pass through the guide arm and to fit within a recess in the guide arm so as not to extend beyond the upper surface thereof.

摘要： A backplane signal connector assembly includes a header connector adapted for mounting on a backplane and a receptacle connector adapted for mounting on a daughter printed circuit board. Each connector includes a conductive housing having a cavity for receiving at least two signal terminals and at least one ground terminal. The signal terminal has an insert molded insulating mounting body about a portion thereof to provide a module for mounting in the cavity to insulate the terminal from the conductive housing. The ground terminal is in direct conductive engagement with the housing. The terminals are stamped and formed metal components. At least one ground clip is mounted on each conductive housing in direct conductive engagement therewith and is adapted for commoning to a ground on the respective backplane and daughter printed circuit board, whereby the housing establishes a primary ground reference for the connector.
