    摘要: A grounding system is provided for a card-receiving header connector assembly. The header connector assembly includes a header connector mounted on a printed circuit board for receiving an IC card. The IC card includes a receptacle connector and a receptacle shield. A plurality of terminals are mounted within the header connector and are adapted for mating to terminals of the receptacle connector of the IC card. A grounding shroud is mounted on the header connector and includes a main body plate and a plurality of ground contact portions formed therein for engaging corresponding contacts on the receptacle shield of the IC card. The ground contact portions each are formed by a generally C-shaped spring arm having opposite ends joined to the main body plate of the shroud, with a portion of the spring arm between the ends being formed downwardly for asymmetrically engaging the contacts on the receptacle shield of the IC card.

    摘要: The invention is a device which receives radiation from a point source, from the sun, or from other means, said radiation being received on the surface of a mirrored paraboloid of revolution which is tracking the point source, though the source may be stationary, and reflects the radiation to the mirrored surface of a confocal hyperboloid of revolution whose shape is dependent on the distance to the desired second focus. The hyperboloid reflects radiation of high intensity to the second focus, where the flux is intensified, using a conical mirrored surface or a compound parabolic concentrator, to a flux intensity approaching the surface flux intensity of the sun. The radiation input to the device may also be from an array of point or distributed sources, such as from an array of lasers.

    摘要: A zero insertion force electrical connector for use with a device having an array of pin terminals including a lower connector housing having a top surface and a plurality of cavities in the top surface corresponding to the array of pin terminals. Each of the cavities includes a base wall spaced from the top surface. A plurality of resilient terminals are mounted in the cavities. Each of the terminals includes a mounting portion for securing the terminal in the base wall, a free end portion, a contact structure adjacent the free end portion and a spring arm portion between the base wall and the contact structure. The pin terminals are moved in the cavities in a first direction along a path of travel between an unmated position wherein the pins are spaced from the contact structures in the cavities and a mated position wherein the pins are fully mated with the contact structures. The contact structure includes a pin engagement surface at least partly inclined with respect to the path of travel. The spring arm portion of each of the terminals is a generally flat and planar leaf region oriented generally parallel to the first direction. The leaf region includes a first side edge at a side of the terminal where the pin first engages the contact structure and a second side edge extending from the mounting portion to the contact structure at the opposite side of the terminal. Notch means is provided in at least one of the side edges for increasing the flexibility of the leaf portion.

    摘要: A zero insertion force electrical connector including a connector housing having a top surface and a plurality of cavities in the top surface corresponding to an array of pin terminals. Each of the cavities includes a base wall spaced from the top surface and terminal retention openings in the base wall. A plurality of terminals are mounted in the cavities. Each of the terminals is a stamped and formed segment of flat and planar metal stock including a mounting portion substantially in the plane of the stock, a free end portion, a contact structure adjacent the free end portion and a spring arm portion between the mounting portion and the contact structure. The pin terminals are moved in the cavities between an unmated position wherein the pins are spaced from the contact structures in the cavities and a mated position wherein the pins are mated with the contact structures. The terminal mounting portion of each terminal is received in one of the terminal retention openings for securing the terminal in the cavity. The contact structure includes a pin engagement surface raised from the plane of the stock. The terminal retention opening has an enlarged portion permitting entry of the contact structure into the cavity through the base wall. The mounting portion has a projection extending out of the plane of the stock and substantially blocking the enlarged portion when the mounting portion is received in the terminal retention opening.

    摘要: A cable connector is provided that has a connector housing that is thin and takes the form of a wafer. Terminals are held within the housing and termination portions extend lengthwise from the terminals. The termination portions extend out from the housing for terminating bare conductors of signal wires to them. A grounding shield is provided that extends over the signal terminals from their contact portions at the front end of the connector to their rear termination portions. The grounding shield thereby provided a ground extent over the termination area that increases the electrical affinity of the signal wires to the grounding shield so as to reduce crosstalk and noise during operation at high frequencies. In one embodiment, the grounding shield includes a separate extension that is connected to the base grounding shield. In another embodiment, the grounding shield has a length sufficient to extend over the termination area.

    摘要: A universal grounding clip is provided for a card-receiving connector which is mounted on a printed circuit board. The connector includes a generally U-shaped housing having guide arms adapted to guide the outside edges of a PC card into mating engagement with the connector. The PC card includes grounding contacts along the outside edges of the card. The universal grounding clip is mounted on each guide arm and includes a contact portion on an inside surface of the respective guide arm for engaging the corresponding grounding contact at the edge of the PC card during insertion of the card and discharging static electricity from the card prior to complete mating of the card and connector. A grounding pad on the grounding clip is provided along a bottom surface of the respective arm and is adapted to be electrically coupled to a ground circuit on the printed circuit board. A grounding pad is also provided along a top surface of the arm for engaging a bottom ground portion of a top stacked connector. The grounding pads of the grounding clip are cut-away to allow a fastening device to pass through the guide arm and to fit within a recess in the guide arm so as not to extend beyond the upper surface thereof.
