Abstract:
The present invention relates to a wireless network, and more particularly, a method (*“and system”?*) which a mobile station discovers a neighbor network in an Internet protocol based wireless network, a network management server for enabling the method, and a method of operating the network management server. A network management server of a wireless network system, the server including: a neighborhood (NH) database maintaining configuration information with respect to at least one neighbor network; a communication interface receiving a request message for capability/configuration information of the neighbor network from a mobile station which is connected via a predetermined access point or a base station; and a database management unit extracting the capability/configuration information of the neighbor network which is included in the request message by referring to the neighborhood database, and controlling a reply message including the capability/configuration information to be transmitted to the mobile station via the communication interface.
Abstract:
A mobile station and method for neighbor discovery are provided. The mobile station comprises a mapping table storing a connection identifier (CID) prefix and a neighbor identifier, a controller generating a CID with respect to a message that will be transmitted by referring to the mapping table, and a message transmitter transmitting, by using the CID, the message to a base station connected to the mobile station.
Abstract:
A method of providing a handover service to a mobile communication terminal supporting multi-modal communications, and a mobile communication terminal for performing the method are provided. More particularly, a method of eliminating an interruption of a data transmission service occurring during a handover between different communication networks, and a terminal for performing the method are provided. A method of providing a handover service of a mobile communication terminal supporting multi-modal communications can include: transmitting and receiving data to/from a corresponding node via a first access network and a second access network while simultaneously maintaining an association with the first access network and the second access network, determining a point in time of completing a handover registration, and releasing an association with the first access network after the point in time of completing the handover registration.
Abstract:
A handoff apparatus and method in FMIPv6 for seamless TCP packet transmissions. The handoff method includes steps of intercepting by a previous access router certain TCP packets sent from a correspondent node to a previous temporary address of a mobile node; and creating a TCP ACK by the previous access router in response to the certain TCP packets and sending by the previous access router the created TCP ACK to the correspondent node every time the certain TCP packets are forwarded to a new access router through a bi-directional tunnel. The handoff method has an advantage in that the packet transmission rate can be secured at the same level as the mobile node stays still during the performance of the handoff of the mobile node since the previous access router instead of the mobile node creates and sends the TCP ACK to the correspondent node during the performance of the handoff of the mobile node.
Abstract:
A mobile terminal and method of notifying an access router of an Internet protocol (IP) address of the mobile terminal in a wireless network are provided where a mobile terminal notifies an access router of an IP address of the mobile terminal, performing duplicate address detection (DAD) with respect to an automatically-configured IP address are performed, and a notification message including the IP address resulting from the performing of the DAD are transmitted to the access router. The access router is notified by using the notification message. The mobile terminal uses the IP address, based on whether there is a response with respect to the notification message transmitted to the access router after the performing of the DAD.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method of setting an address of a communication apparatus is provided where when an access router transmits a Router Advertisement (RA) message to the communication apparatus, the communication apparatus sets an address establishment scheme of the communication apparatus according to a first field of the RA message. The RA message includes information about the address establishment scheme, which the communication apparatus is able to use, in the first field.
Abstract:
A mobile network is disclosed in which there exists a Mobile Node (MN), the MN is managed by a first Access Router (AR), and there exists a second AR with a subnet different from the first AR. A method is provided for the MN performing a fast handoff from the first AR to the second AR, which includes receiving a Routing Advertisement (RA) message of the second AR from the first AR, generating an IP address to be used in the second AR using the RA message of the second AR if the MN recognizes that it should perform a handoff from the first AR to the second AR, performing a trigger for using the generated IP address if the movement to the second AR is completed, and transmitting/receiving a Correspondent Node (CN) and data using the IP address.
Abstract:
A method for ranging in a wireless communication system and a communication apparatus and/or system using the same are provided. A base station (BS) device includes a terminal grouping unit to group terminals associated with the BS device into a plurality of groups, a radio resource assignment unit to allocate a radio resource assigned to the BS device to each of the plurality of groups, a transmission unit to transmit information about a radio resource assigned to a first group of the plurality of groups to a terminal included in the first group, and a receiving unit to receive a ranging signal from the terminal using the radio resource assigned to the first group, wherein the terminal grouping unit assigns the terminal to be included in a second group of the plurality of groups where the ranging signal is not received by the receiving unit.
Abstract:
An access router including a module buffering first data to be transmitted to a first mobile station, and transmitting the first data to a second access router when the first mobile station moves to the second access router.
Abstract:
Provided is a method of generating and managing a connection identifier (CID) for supporting an IPv6 multicast in a wireless network based on IEEE 802.16 and a network interface using the method. Further provided is a network interface included in a node of IPv6-based wireless network, the network interface includes a MAC driver for storing at least one multicast CID and a MAC address of the node which is mapped in the at least one multicast CID, and a control unit for receiving a multicast message which is transmitted from a base station, and transferring the multicast message to an IP layer, when the multicast message includes the multicast CID which is stored in the MAC driver.
