摘要: In accordance with the subject invention, devices and methods are provided for the accurate reporting of movement of an entity. Sensors which are accurate, but provide a delayed signal ("delayed signal sensors"), which delay is unacceptable for many applications, may be used in conjunction with fast sensors ("fast signal sensors"), which are usually subject to drift and other inaccuracies in providing information about a position. Additional sensors which may provide even more accurate and/or less signal sensor delay for a period of time, but which sensor signal is subject to periods of interrupted or undesirable output thereby making it unreliable ("unreliable signal sensors") may also be used in combination with one or more of the delayed signal sensors and fast signal sensors. By using a combination of such sensors, accurate, reliable position information is rapidly obtained to allow high-resolution and/or real-time analysis and depictions of movement. Complex rapid movements associated with athletics, music, and other rapid activities can be monitored in real-time to provide accurate information during the movement. Such information may then be used to analyze the movement, for instruction for improvement, for repeating the activity in a virtual setting and the like.

摘要: A man-machine interface is disclosed which provides force, texture, pressure and temperature information to sensing body parts. The interface is comprised of a force-generating device (900) that produces a force which is transmitted to a force-applying device (902) via force-transmitting means (908). The force-applying device applies the generated force to a sensing body part. A force sensor (909) associated with the force-applying device measures the actual force applied to the sensing body part, while angle sensors (917) measure the angles of relevant joint body parts. A computing device (911) uses the joint body part position information to determine a desired force value to be applied to the sensing body part. The computing device combines the joint body part position information with the force sensor information to calculate the force command which is sent to the force-generating device. In this manner, the computing device may control the actual force applied to a sensing body part to a desired force which depends upon the positions of related body parts. In addition, the interface is comprised of a displacement-generating device (901) which produces a displacement which is transmitted to a displacement-applying device (902) (e.g., a texture simulator) via displacement-generating structure (920). The displacement-applying device applies the generated displacement to a sensing body part. The force-applying device and displacement-applying device may be combined to simultaneously provide force and displacement information to a sensing body part. Furthermore, pressure and temperature-applying devices may be combined to also provide pressure and temperature sensations to a sensing body part. In addition, a force-applying device may be attached to a sensing body part and apply force to the sensing body part, where the force is applied relative to a reference location not rigidly affixed to the living body.

摘要: Methods and systems are provided for calculating the position of a thumb in a model of links and joints representing the physical thumb. The thumb position and orientation are calculated using the change in values of the angle of the thumb rotation and the thumb abduction from selected initial values, which change is detected by means of sensors mounted in juxtaposition to said thumb. Various joint axes are predefined, while others are calculated.

摘要: An active foodware system senses food characteristics, such as weight, calories, and other nutrition. Dining dishes are removably mated with dish holders supported by a mechanical structure having visual stimulating, sensing, and wireless communication components. A visual stimulating component emits light from a dining dish. The mechanical structure protects the components and circuitry from liquid. The system may include a camera. Other components may provide data processing, auditory and haptic stimuli, wireless power, temperature sensing, and heating of food. Data related to the food is displayed on a visual stimulating component of a computer or mobile communication device, such as a mobile phone or tablet computer. The data may also be sent to the internet. Computer software displays nutrition information on the visual stimulating component, which may be displayed before, during, and/or after dining. Computer software may also provide visual and auditory encouragement for children to eat.

摘要: A personal watercraft includes a floatation member, a thrust assembly, a steering assembly, and a braking assembly. The assemblies may be actuated either mechanically or electrically. The thrust assembly is human powered, solar powered, or electric powered. The thrust, steering, and braking assemblies can be added after-market to an existing stand-up paddle board (SUP), or built into one or a plurality of SUPs during initial manufacturing. When the thrust assembly is human powered, it is leg or arm powered. When the thrust assembly is leg powered, the legs can move backward and forward in a sliding motion, up and down in a stomping fashion, or move in a loop trajectory. When the thrust assembly is arm powered, the arms can move forward/backward together or separately. The thrust assembly includes one or a plurality of paddles or flippers that are positioned to the side or under the SUP.

摘要: An apparatus and method are provided for storing and dispensing into a liquid a soluble substance, such as a flavoring, a body fuel, a nutritional supplement, a stimulant, a relaxant, an alcohol neutralizer, or a medical drug. A useful application of the subject invention includes a lime flavoring held by a gelatinous artificial lime wedge stored with a beer bottle or can, or attached to a 6-pack or 12-pack carton. The artificial lime wedge may be retrieved from a protective covering and acted upon so it mixes the lime flavoring into the beer when it is inserted into the beer bottle or can. Rather than needing to buy and store a perishable natural lime, and cut it up, an artificial lime wedge may be stored for an extended period of time with a beer vessel and placed in functional contact with the beer at time of consumption.
