Abstract: A video processing method includes performing a conversion between a video including a video unit and a coded representation of the video, where, after the video unit is encoded or decoded with an intra prediction mode, one or more frequence tables and/or one or more sorted intra prediction mode (IPM) tables are selectively updated according to a rule, where the one or more frequence tables include information about frequence of the intra prediction mode used for processing the video unit in the conversion, where the frequence indicates an occurrence of the intra prediction mode used for the conversion, and where the one or more sorted IPM tables indicate the intra prediction mode used in the processing.

Abstract: A method of video processing includes determining a classification of samples of a block in a video picture of a video according to a rule, wherein the video picture is divided into multiple regions, and wherein the rule disallows use of neighboring samples of a current sample across one or more boundaries of the multiple regions for the classification. The one or more boundaries of the multiple regions comprises a virtual boundary for an adaptive loop filtering (ALF) process. The method also includes performing a conversion between the block and a bitstream representation of the video by selectively applying the ALF process according to the classification.

Abstract: Devices, systems and methods for digital video coding, which includes simplified cross-component prediction, are described. In a representative aspect, a method for video coding includes receiving a bitstream representation of a current block of video data including at least one luma component and at least one chroma component, predicting, using a linear model, a first set of samples of the at least one chroma component based on a second set of samples that is selected by sub-sampling samples of the at least one luma component, and processing, based on the first and second sets of samples, the bitstream representation to generate the current block. In another representative aspect, the second set of samples are neighboring samples of the current block and are used for an intra prediction mode of the at least one luma component.
