    Abstract: A video processing method is described. The method includes performing a conversion between a video region of a video and a coded representation of the video, wherein the performing of the conversion includes configuring, based on a partition type of the video region, a context model for coding a first bin, the first bin and a second bin included in a bin string corresponding to an index of a secondary transform tool, wherein the index indicates an applicability of the secondary transform tool and/or a kernel information of the secondary transform tool, and wherein the secondary transform tool includes applying, during encoding, a forward secondary transform to an output of a forward primary transform applied to a residual of a video block prior to quantization, or applying, during decoding, an inverse secondary transform to an output of dequantization to the video block before applying an inverse primary transform.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for coding or decoding video wherein the picture partition mode is based on block size are described. An example method for video processing includes using a dimension of a virtual pipeline data unit (VPDU) used for a conversion between a video comprising one or more video regions comprising one or more video blocks and a bitstream representation of the video to perform a determination of whether a ternary-tree (TT) or a binary tree (BT) partitioning of a video block of the one or more video blocks is enabled, and performing, based on the determination, the conversion, wherein the dimension is equal to VSize in luma samples, wherein dimensions of the video block are CtbSizeY in luma samples, wherein VSize=min(M, CtbSizeY), and wherein M is a positive integer.

    Abstract: Devices, systems and methods for digital video coding, which includes restrictions on decoder-side motion vector derivation based on coding information, are described. An exemplary method for video processing includes making a decision, for a conversion between a current block of a video and a bitstream representation of the video, regarding a selective enablement of a decoder side motion vector derivation (DMVD) tool for the current block, the DMVD tool deriving a refinement of motion information signaled in the bitstream representation, and the conversion using a merge mode and motion vector differences that are indicated by a motion direction and a motion magnitude, and performing, based on the decision, a conversion between the current block and the bitstream representation.

    Abstract: Devices, systems and methods for digital video coding, which includes simplified cross-component prediction, are described. In a representative aspect, a method for video coding includes receiving a bitstream representation of a current block of video data including at least one luma component and at least one chroma component, predicting, using a linear model, a first set of samples of the at least one chroma component based on a second set of samples that is selected by sub-sampling samples of the at least one luma component, and processing, based on the first and second sets of samples, the bitstream representation to generate the current block. In another representative aspect, the second set of samples are neighboring samples of the current block and are used for an intra prediction mode of the at least one luma component.
