    Abstract: In one example aspect, a method of video processing includes performing a conversion between a current block of a video and a bitstream of the video using a palette mode in which a palette of representative sample values is used for coding the current block. During the conversion, one or multiple predictor palettes are used for predicting the palette of representative sample values, and wherein updating of the one or multiple predictor palettes after the conversion of the current block is disabled according to a rule based on a characteristic of the current block.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for using palette mode with different partition structures are described. An example method for video processing includes maintaining, for a conversion between a video comprising one or more video regions comprising a current video block and a bitstream representation of the video, a palette prediction table for a prediction of a palette used in a palette mode coding tool used for the current video block, making a determination that a local dual tree coding is applied to the conversion, modifying, based on the determination, the palette prediction table, and performing, based on the palette prediction table subsequent to the modifying, the conversion, wherein the palette mode coding tool represents the current video block using a palette of representative color values, and wherein the local dual tree coding enables partitioning of chroma blocks independently from corresponding luma blocks based on a block size.

    Abstract: A video processing method is described. The method includes performing a conversion between a video region of a video and a coded representation of the video, wherein the performing of the conversion includes configuring, based on a partition type of the video region, a context model for coding a first bin, the first bin and a second bin included in a bin string corresponding to an index of a secondary transform tool, wherein the index indicates an applicability of the secondary transform tool and/or a kernel information of the secondary transform tool, and wherein the secondary transform tool includes applying, during encoding, a forward secondary transform to an output of a forward primary transform applied to a residual of a video block prior to quantization, or applying, during decoding, an inverse secondary transform to an output of dequantization to the video block before applying an inverse primary transform.

    Abstract: A method of video processing is provided to include: performing a conversion between a video comprising one or more video regions comprising one or more luma blocks and one or more chroma blocks and a coded representation of the video according to a rule; wherein the rule specifies that a chroma block from the one or more chroma blocks having a size M×N is disallowed to be represented in the coded representation using an intra mode or an intra block copy mode, wherein M and N are integers that indicate a width and a height of the chroma block, respectively; wherein the intra mode includes encoding the chroma block based on previously encoded or reconstructed video blocks, and wherein the intra block copy mode includes encoding the chroma block using at least a block vector pointing to a video frame containing a video region.

    Abstract: Devices, systems and methods for digital video coding, which includes restrictions on decoder-side motion vector derivation based on coding information, are described. An exemplary method for video processing includes making a decision, for a conversion between a current block of a video and a bitstream representation of the video, regarding a selective enablement of a decoder side motion vector derivation (DMVD) tool for the current block, the DMVD tool deriving a refinement of motion information signaled in the bitstream representation, and the conversion using a merge mode and motion vector differences that are indicated by a motion direction and a motion magnitude, and performing, based on the decision, a conversion between the current block and the bitstream representation.
