Abstract: A method and system for providing on-demand updating of metadata information associated with clinical image data files is disclosed. The system allows for extracting, on the fly, additional metadata fields from clinical image data files and re-indexing the metadata to include the additional fields so that an end-user can perform operations (e.g., searching, browsing, etc.) based on the newly indexed fields. The metadata fields may be defined in a configurable schema file (e.g., XML, YML, etc.). The system can gain efficiencies by, for example, reading only a subset of the DICOM file (e.g., reading only the first few kilobytes that contain the header), scanning only a subset of source data folders, etc.

In some examples, the system receives an indication of a change to a mailbox, creates a change journal entry for the change, and identifies data to be copied via the change journal entry. Abstract: The present inventors devised a holistic approach for protecting serverless applications in single-cloud, multi-zone, multi-cloud, and/or non-cloud data center computing environments. An illustrative data storage management system discovers application assets, relationships, and interoperability dependencies and creates an “application entity” that references the various assets. Protection preferences apply to the application entity as a whole. An orchestration function in the system coordinates storage management operations (e.g., backup, replication, live synchronization, etc.) in a suitable order of operations gleaned from asset dependencies, if any. A set of copies of the application's discovered assets are generated in coordinated fashion and represent a point-in-time copy of the application. The point-in-time copy can be restored and/or migrated to other computing services by the data storage management system. The orchestration function coordinates restore and migration operations, including any cloud-to-cloud or cloud-to/from-non-cloud conversions that might be necessary to activate the application in a different computing environment.

Abstract: A system for performing continuous transaction log backups with minimal resource usage of the client computing devices that are processing the transactions is disclosed. The system detects at least one input/output (I/O) activity at a client computing device. The I/O activity can be associated with at least one database operation performed via the client computing device. The system then executes one or more native commands to backup transactions log data associated with the detected I/O activity to a virtualized location. Backing-up the transactions log data comprises dynamically identifying a mount path location corresponding to the virtualized location, and transferring the transactions log data to the dynamically identified mount path using the one or more native commands. The system can then perform data processing operations (for example, data chunking and deduplicating) on the transactions log data after it is received at the dynamically identified mount path location.

Abstract: A system according to certain aspects improves the process of restoring database objects and converting those objects into another database file format. According to certain aspects, a database file is backed up in a block-level fashion. Instead of restoring the entire backup file, which can consume a large amount of time and computing resources, the information management system may restore a particular database object from a backup database file that is stored as multiple blocks or other granular units. Then, the information management system can extract the desired data from the restored block(s). By using block-level mapping and storage techniques described herein, the system can restore a database object in a backup database file without restoring the entire backup database file, thereby speeding up restore operations and reducing consumption of storage and processing resources. In addition, the information management system can convert the blocks, using a staging memory, to another database file format as desired.

Abstract: Systems and methods for performing backup operations and other secondary copy operations for mail servers, such as Exchange servers, are described. In some cases, the systems and methods perform multi-streaming backup and other copy operations using a single mailbox agent, which launches backup streams via a coordinator that determines when to launch streams, at what mailboxes (or folders) to launch the streams, and so on. The coordinator communicates with controllers at different machines (e.g., servers) to be backed up, and may assign streams, mailboxes, and so on, to the different controllers, which perform the backup operations for their assigned mailboxes and/or clients.
