摘要： A liquid crystal is provided, which can be used in a liquid crystal display (LCD) to provide an LCD exhibiting a good transmittance. The liquid crystal according to the invention has the following properties: (i) a dielectric anisotropy (Δ∈) ranging from about −2.5 to about −5; (ii) a splay elastic constant (K11) ranging from about 1.1×10−11 N to about 1.6×10−11 N; (iii) a bend elastic constant (K33) ranging from about 1.1×10−11 N to about 1.6×10−11 N; and (iv) Δ∈, K11 (N) and K33 (N) conforming to the following equation: K 11 + K 33 10 × Δ ɛ

The 2D/3D display includes a liquid crystal display (LCD) panel and a switchable barrier. The LCD panel has a display area, a non-display area surrounding the display area, and a first black matrix extending from the display area to the non-display area. The first black matrix has a number of openings arranged in array and merely distributed within the display area. The switchable barrier has a 3D image control area, a non-display area surrounding the 3D image control area, and a second black matrix merely disposed within the non-display area. The second black matrix surrounds the 3D image control area. An area occupied by the 3D image control area is different from an area occupied by the display area.

摘要： An exemplary stereoscopic display device includes a backlight module, a display panel, and a polarizer panel. The backlight module provides a light source for the stereoscopic display device. The display panel is used for displaying a received image. The polarizer panel includes a plurality of polarizer elements. The states of the polarizer elements are switched by an ON/OFF operation for switching a polarization angle of the polarizer panel. The ON/OFF operation of the polarizer panel includes an enabled time interval and a disabled time interval. The polarizer elements provide two different polarization angles respectively in the enabled and disabled time intervals. The enabled time interval and the disabled time interval have different time lengths from each other. A stereoscopic image displaying method is also disclosed.

The pixel includes pluralities of sub-pixels arranged side by side along a first direction. Each sub-pixel has a first azimuthal angle domain and a second azimuthal angle domain, wherein the first and second azimuthal angle domains are arranged side by side along a second direction in the sub-pixel, and the second direction is not parallel with the first direction. The azimuthal angles of liquid crystal molecules in the first and second azimuthal angle domains have an included angle less than 180°.

The display apparatus comprises a light source and an optical compound layer, wherein the light source is adapted to emit a light beam, and the light beam has a polarization direction. The optical compound layer is disposed on the light source correspondingly to receive the light beam. The optical compound layer comprises a thin film and a plurality of dopants doped therein.
