摘要： A method of processing a job, with compound segments, in a printing system is provided. The method includes the steps of (a) generating a dialog, having a set of attributes designating a manner in which compound segments of the job are to be processed by the printing system, and (b) programming the dialog so that values are provided for selected ones of the set of attributes. The method further includes the steps of (c) capturing the attribute values, programmed in step (b), to obtain a job ticket for a first one of the compound segments and (d) repeating steps (a) -(c) for one or more other compound segments to create a composite job ticket. The compound segments are then processed, in accordance with the composite job ticket, so that one or more copies of the job are delivered to one or more output/storage destinations.

The system includes a universal print driver interfaced with a network and at least one associated print device. A repository stores a set of device compatibility packs (DCPs) for each of the at least one associated print device interfaced with the universal print driver. The universal print driver is adapted to search the repository for a DCP if the associated print device is unsupported by the print driver.

摘要： According to aspects of the embodiments, there is provided methods of controlling operation of a printer, apparatus and computer-readable medium. The embodiments control operation of a printer by receiving a print command for printing from a user, and displaying a print user interface including selectable document settings and context based restrictions. Context based restrictions allows a system administrator to flexibly manage users access to a device features and capabilities. A variety of restrictions can be specified including time-based, capacity-based, and application-based. This invention also prevents the user from submitting a job with a restricted feature. Advantages are a clear, understandable presentation of restrictions to the user so the user knows what features the user cannot access.

摘要： A system for managing job tickets includes a first device that is in communication with a server. The first device is adapted to receive as input job parameters for managing a print job. The image forming device is further adapted to encode the job parameters into a job ticket. The first device is further adapted to send the job ticket to the server. The server is adapted to store the job ticket in a folder and obtain the job ticket from the folder when a request for a print job is received at the server. The server is further adapted to apply the job ticket to the print job and transmit a print file including the print job and the job ticket to an image forming device when a print job request is received.

After the operative connecting, the print job is re-constructed at the printing device (12), and the re-constructed print job is printed using the printing device (12). A cost of the printing is accounted for based on the print job accounting information (40) stored on the operatively connected mobile device (20).

摘要： A method and apparatus for prioritizing the use of multifunctional printing system's basic processing resources to multiply active capability job resources for a basic resource under a certain condition. The printing system employs a controller with an improved job contention manager (JCM). A plurality of basic resources of the printing system are provided with a queue. One or more job services, at desired times, signals the JCM to carry out a sub-job of a given job. The signal for each of the sub-jobs includes information about the respective sub-job and its job service and priority. Responsive to the signal, the JCM adds, for a first video capability required by a first sub-job, a corresponding first basic job resource to the queues of each basic resource which the first video capability will require in order to perform the first sub-job. The first basic job resources for the first sub-job are placed in an “Active” state ready for processing, if the first basic job resource is at the top of all of the queues, of all the basic resources, required by the first video capability. Responsive to a second signal, the JCM adds, for a second video capability required by the second sub-job, a corresponding second basic job resource sub-job to the queues of each basic resource which the second video capability will require in order to perform the second sub-job. The, second basic job resources, which follow a first basic job resource in a basic resource queue, are placed in an “Active” state ready for processing after the first basic job resource, if the first and second basic job resources in the queue are submitted by the same job service and for the same job as the first sub-job. Any basic resources of the first sub-job which are not used for the second sub-job are then freed for use by other video capabilities.

摘要： A platen cover having a plurality of platen cover surfaces that can be exposed. Each platen cover surface has a different color and/or has a different surface treatment, such as matte, gloss, reflective and the like. The different exposable surfaces are carried on at least one removable platen cover surface that can be detachably attached to the platen cover. To change the exposed surface, the platen cover surface is detached from the platen cover. That platen cover surface can then be rotated to expose a different face of the platen cover surface. Alternately, a different platen cover surface can be installed. In other exemplary embodiments, the platen cover has a plurality of retractable platen cover layers that can be exposed. Each platen cover layer has a different color and/or surface treatment. The quality of many functions that are performed in an image capture device can be improved by using different platen cover colors. Therefore, the platen cover is selected based on the operation being performed or a image capture device user's selection.
