Abstract:
An optical fiber unit includes: a plurality of optical fibers; and at least two binding materials that bind the plurality of optical fibers. The two binding materials are wound around the plurality of optical fibers in an SZ shape and adhered to each other at reversed portions of the SZ shape to form an adhesive part. The adhesive part extends along a longitudinal direction where the optical fiber unit extends, and 0.15≤L/(P/2)≤0.8 is satisfied where L is a length of the adhesive part in the longitudinal direction and P is a binding pitch of the two binding materials in the longitudinal direction.
Abstract:
[Objective] To detect abnormalities in optical fibers by using a phenomenon specific to optical fiber tapes including plural optical fibers arranged parallel to each other and connected together intermittently. [Solution] This optical fiber tape manufacturing method involves: a step of forming connecting parts that connect together adjacent optical fibers among a plurality of optical fibers arranged parallel to each other while applying tension to the optical fibers, and thus forming an optical fiber tape in which the connecting parts are intermittently disposed; a step of reducing the tension applied to the optical fiber tape; and a step of measuring a thickness of the optical fiber tape with reduced tension from a direction parallel to a tape plane on a path of the optical fiber tape.
Abstract:
Provided is an optical fiber ribbon capable of concurrently ensuring mid-span access performance and cable production performance. The optical fiber ribbon 1 includes three or more optical fibers 2 arranged in parallel and connecting portions 3 connecting the adjacent optical fibers 2, the connecting portions 3 being formed intermittently in each of a ribbon longitudinal direction X and a ribbon width direction Y. The optical fiber ribbon 1 including the connecting portions 3 having split strength which is set in the range from 1.50 gf to 21.0 gf, contributes to exhibiting both the mid-span access performance and the cable production performance.
Abstract:
A printer for printing on an optical fiber includes an ink tray storing an ink; a drawing roll configured to draw the ink from the ink tray; a printing roll, having a print pattern which is capable of filling the ink transferred from the drawing roll, configured to transfer the ink filled in the print pattern to a surface of the running optical fiber, the print pattern being a mesh pattern having a mesh size in a range of 75-mesh to 150-mesh; and a doctor blade configured to press the ink into the print pattern and to scrape the excess ink deposited on a surface of the printing roll.
Abstract:
An optical fiber core having a primary layer and a secondary layer, which are laminated on a bare optical fiber. The primary layer is formed by curing an ultraviolet-curable resin composition containing a first silane coupling agent, which can be incorporated into a resin skeleton, and a second silane coupling agent, which cannot be incorporated into a resin skeleton. The first silane coupling agent contains a compound having a methoxy group, and the second silane coupling agent contains a compound having an ethoxy group.
