    Abstract: Nitrated derivatives of N-methylphthalimide can be obtained by contacting N-methylphthalimide dissolved in concentrated sulfuric acid with concentrated nitric acid at a temperature from about 60.degree.-80.degree.C., and thereafter extracting the formed nitro derivatives with methylene chloride.
