摘要： An optical transmission apparatus using duobinary modulation adapted to an optical communication system using dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) is disclosed. The duo-binary optical transmission apparatus includes an electro-absorption modulated laser (EML) for performing a light intensity modulation operation based on an electrical data signal and producing a modulated optical signal, the EML having a light source for outputting carriers and a modulator for performing the light intensity modulation operation, a precoder for inputting an inverted signal of the electrical data signal and encoding it to an encoded signal, and a modulator for performing a phase modulation of the optical signal modulated by the EML and outputting a duo-binary optical signal, according to the encoded signal.

摘要： A duo-binary encoder performs a parallel processing and an optical duo-binary transmission apparatus using the encoder to enhance transmission capability. The duo-binary encoder has a judgment unit for judging whether an odd number or even number of ‘0’s exists in data input signals of N channels, a toggle unit for toggling an output signal of the judgment unit when a number of ‘0’s is even, an intermediate signal generation unit for determining whether phases of other channels are shifted or not, according to an data input signal on the basis of a predetermined channel of the N channels. A phase division unit divides data into a first data group having non-shifted phases and a second group of data that require a phase shift, according to an output signal of the intermediate signal generation unit and the data input signal. The divided first and second data groups are then output.

摘要： A duobinary optical transmission device provides duobinary optical transmission with improved quality by a technique that does not require an electrical low pass filter LPF.A duobinary optical transmission device includes at least one semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA). A light source outputs a carrier wave as an optical signal. A precoder encodes an input of a non-return-to-zero (NRZ) electrical signal. An interferometer type semiconductor optical amplification unit modulates the carrier wave according to a change of an applied bias current coupled to the encoded signal. An optical band pass filter (OBPF) receives the phase-modulated optical signal from the semiconductor optical amplification unit, filters the received phase-modulated optical signal according to a designated band, and outputs an optical duobinary signal.

摘要： An optical duo-binary transmission apparatus using an optical duo-binary transmission method is disclosed. The apparatus includes a duo-binary encoder that performs parallel processing. The duo-binary encoder includes a level change detection unit for detecting that levels of data input signals of N channels input at an nth input of channels change from 0 to 1, or from 1 to 0; a judgment unit for judging whether a number of level changes detected by the level change detection unit is odd or even; and a toggle unit for toggling an output signal of the judgment unit when the number of level change is odd. The encoder also includes an intermediate signal generation unit for determining whether phases of other channels are shifted or not, according to an data input signal on the basis of a predetermined channel of the N channels; and a phase division unit for dividing data into a first data group having non-shifted phases and a second data group which require a phase shift, according to an output signal of the intermediate signal generation unit and the data input signal, and outputting the divided first and second data groups.
