Abstract: A percussive massage device includes a cylinder extending along a longitudinal axis. A motor shaft that rotates about a central axis perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. A crank coupled to the shaft includes a first pivot offset from the central axis. A pinion gear is coupled to the first pivot. The pinion gear rotates within a ring gear. The pinion gear has a second pivot that rotates about the first pivot. A reciprocation linkage is coupled between the second pivot and a piston that moves longitudinally within the cylinder. An applicator head coupled to a second end of the piston has an end exposed outside the cylinder for application to a person receiving treatment. An actuator selectively rotates the ring gear to cause the applicator head to have a first stroke length and at least a second stroke length.

Abstract: A self-contained reciprocation mechanism is coupleable within an enclosure of a percussive massage device and is configured to receive an applicator head for stimulating a user's muscles. The self-contained reciprocation mechanism includes a spatial positioning bracket, a semi-cylindrical bracket, a piston, a motor, a crank, and a reciprocation linkage. The spatial positioning bracket is configured to receive the other interconnected components of the self-contained reciprocation mechanism and position said components relative to each other at close predetermined tolerances to assure that the interconnected components are properly positioned to provide consistent operating characteristics. The self-contained reciprocation mechanism is coupled within the enclosure using screws which extend through mounting tabs of the spatial positioning bracket.

Abstract: A portable vibrating roller includes an outer roller structure having a plurality of grooves and ribs. A hollow cylindrical bore extends longitudinally through the shell. A vibration system having a first end cap and a second end cap fits within the bore. A battery positioned within the shell near one end cap provides electrical power to a motor positioned within the shell near the other end cap to cause the motor to rotate an output shaft at a plurality of angular velocities to rotate an eccentric mass located approximately midway between the two end caps. The rotating eccentric mass causes vibration. A motor control circuit receives input power from a battery and selectively provides output power to the motor in response to the operation of a switch on the first end cap. The output power is varied to control the angular velocity of the output shaft of the motor and to thereby control a frequency of vibration caused by the eccentric mass.

Abstract: A system applies compression, vibration and heat to a body part of a person. The system includes a portable vibration and heat generation apparatus having a flexible support platform and a bag-like enclosure extending from the support platform. A cylindrical control unit is mounted to the support platform and extends perpendicularly from the support platform. The control unit has a diameter of between 50 millimeters and 100 millimeters. The control unit houses electronic circuitry and at least one battery. Four vibration pods extend from the support platform into the bag-like structure. The bag-like structure also houses a heat generation unit. The control unit extends through a circular bore in a compression wrap. The compression wrap is securable to a body part with a distal wall of the bag-like enclosure against the body part. The system selectively applies vibration, heat or a combination of vibration and heat to the body part.
