    摘要: The present embodiments are generally directed to a belt for use in an electrostatographic apparatus that is made by applying the substrate and various layers onto the inside of a mandrel, rather than on the outside of the mandrel. The method of the present embodiments allows formation of the belt from the outer layer in to the inner layers, which provides a more effective method of making the belt as well as a belt with enhanced properties. The tensile member of the belts comprises fibrous materials and is formed in place with the rest of the layers.

An exemplary apparatus useful for printing onto media includes a first roll including a first surface; a second roll including a second surface; a fixing member including a third surface; a fixing belt supported on the first surface and second surface, the fixing belt including a surface forming a nip with the fixing member; a registration distribution system for translating the first roll, second roll, fixing member and fixing belt, as a unit, transversely with respect to a media travel path of media received at the nip; and a belt steering mechanism connected to the second roll for translating the fixing belt across the first surface of the first roll at the nip, transversely to the media travel path, while the registration distribution system translates the first roll, second roll, fixing member and fixing belt transversely to the media travel path.

    摘要: A heating device, which can be used in the fixing unit of an image forming apparatus, such as an electrophotographic copying or printing machine, for fixing a toner image on a final substrate. The heating device which is in the form of a heated fuser roller is provided with bands or coatings of material which impede the transfer of heat from the fuser roller to bearing structure associated therewith. The bands or coatings are applied by plasma spraying a ceramic material on either the surface of a fuser roll core or on journals of end caps, depending upon the specific construction of the fuser roller.

The RAM system includes a metering roll and donor brush or equivalent structure for providing a low friction nip between it and a pressure or fuser rolls and also between the it and the metering roll. The low friction nip allows rolls contacting the donor brush or its equivalent to operated at different speeds. Thus, the metering roll can be rotated at different speeds for delivering different quantities of release agent material in accordance with different operating conditions of the imaging apparatus in which the RAM system is used.

    摘要: Release Agent Management (RAM) system for a heat and pressure fuser. The open pool of oil associated with prior art RAM systems is replaced with an oil saturated wick the lower end of which is immersed in oil. The oil is held in a container with a sealed lid that has a slot through which the wick passes allowing the wick to transport oil from the container to a metering roll outside of the container. A depression in the container lid that cradles the wick under the metering roll allows oil to collect in the portion of the wick laying on the container lid. The shape of the depression prevents oil from flowing back into the container through the slot and from flowing to some lower part of the container lid. The wick is compressed approximately 50% between the metering roll and container lid. A removable seal is provided which is attached to the lid such that the RAM can be shipped without oil spillage.

    摘要: According to aspects of the embodiments, an electrophotographic system utilizing a belt roll fuser mechanism which inhibits or minimizes wrinkling or slipping of printed media through the fuser is disclosed. In this device, the belt is driven at the ideal velocity at all locations across the width of the roll with minimal differential shear stress between the internal pressure roll and the inside of the belt in the nip and around the wrap. The ideal velocity is achieved by straining the circumference belt while its mounted on a roll support structure by flaring the other rolls equally and flaring the internal pressure roll to match the strained circumference of the belt. A small flaring of the rolls in the belt module would reduce sliding of the belt and make the transition between the wraps or the stripper shoe less stressful.
