An improved venetian type blind has slats having a first pair of oppositely disposed slots one slot on the outside edge and one slot on the inside edge and a second pair of oppositely disposed slots one slot on the inside edge and one slot on the outside edge. The first pair of slots is laterally spaced apart from the second pair of slots. A first ladder having opposite cord type rails and rungs extending therebetween, is positioned with the rails outside of the first pair of slots and connected to the bottomrail. A first pair of lift cords is adjacent to the first ladder, one lift cord running through slots in the inside edge of the slats and one lift cord running in the slots on the outside edge of the slats. A similar arrangement is provided at the second pair of slots. A tilt mechanism attached to the headrail moves the oppositely disposed lift cords and the rails of the ladders together when the blind is changed from an open to closed position.

This invention relates to a shade, a bottomrail therefor and a method for the manufacture thereof. The shade is pleated and has the two sections forming each rear projecting pleat secured together to form a rear projecting tab. Cord holes are formed in each of the tabs. A generally triangular in cross section bottomrail is provided which is designed to assist in offsetting and disguising the roll of the shade caused by the fabric resilience. The generally triangular bottomrail includes a housing comprised of a main body having a cavity therein and a tongue extending in a direction opposite the rear face of the shade body. The tongue has a termination point at one end opposite the main body and the housing further includes a leaf extending from the termination point of the tongue to the main body with the leaf forming a side of the generally triangular bottomrail. The housing additional includes a cord receiving arrangement mounted therein.
摘要:
A spacer device for controlling the spacing between selected portions of a horizontally or vertically mounted shade, drapery or other covering. The spacer is formed of a thin piece of material of predetermined length. For some embodiments, the material has projections extending at selectd intervals along the length of the piece of material, the projections being adapted to co-act with a cord used to control the opening and closing of the covering and preferfably with selected areas of the covering to control the spacing of the selected portions of the covering. The piece of material is preferably a cord and the projections are preferably loops extending from the cord. For other embodiments, the piece of material is stiff and extends between bars or rails fixed to the covering to control the spacing between the bars or rails when the covering is open. When the opening is closed, the stiff piece of material is guided, preferably by the cord holes, into a rail so that it does not extend from the covering.

A drape has a longitudinal pocket on one or both sides of the drape. A stabilizer is placed within the pocket and extends the length of the pocket. The stabilizer is supported by a drapery support such as a rod or track in a manner which enables the panel to move along the drapery support from a closed, drawn position to an open, stacked position. The stabilizer is supported by the drapery support and is free to move within the pocket. The stabilizer prevents the drape from flaring at the bottom. A wand may be attached to the stabilizer or to a carrier or other assembly to which the stabilizer is attached.

In a cellular material a first panel having a series of lengthwise accordion folds across the width of the panel, alternate folds projecting toward the front of the panel and the back of the panel is attached to a second panel of material in a manner to create a series of P-shaped cells having a back, an upper cell wall and a lower cell wall in which the upper cell wall and the lower cell wall are curved in a same direction.

In a method for making roller shades a stack of pleated material is cut so that the length of the stack corresponds to the width of the roller shade being made. Then the edge of the material is attached to a roller so that the plurality of pleats are parallel to the longitudinal axis of the roller. Preferably the stack of pleated material has been made from strips bonded together to form tabs where the edges of adjacent fabric segments are joined together. Preferably the tabs in the panel of pleated material will be along one edge of the stack and the pleats will be along the opposite edge of the stack.

An expandable and contractable shade assembly includes a plurality of closed cell structures aligned vertically one above another with juncture lines defined between adjacent structures. A lift system is configured for vertically drawing the closed cell structures from the fully expanded configuration into a fully contracted configuration, and includes a plurality of lift cords that are attached to back faces of the closed cell structures and lie along a vertical line of action rearward of the closed cell structures. In the fully contracted configuration of the shade assembly, the closed cell structures collapse into a flat profile and hang from the lift cords in a vertical and adjacently disposed orientation whereby upper edges of the collapsed closed cell structures are adjacent and oriented in an upward vertical direction, and bottom edges of the collapsed closed cell structures are adjacent and oriented in a downward vertical direction.

A tabbed honeycomb structure or pleated panel is made from a stack of collapsed multi-cellular material. The stack is split at bond lines thereby forming the panels of pleated or honeycomb material having a joint tab on one face.

A cord lock for window coverings has one or more cams adjacent a surface over which a one or more lift cords travel. The cams are spring biased to a locked position in which they press the lift cords against the surface. A cam lock with a release cord is provided which engages and moves the cams from a locked position to an unlocked position in which the lift cords are free to move through the cord lock. The cord lock is always in a locked position whenever neither the lift cords are being pulled to raise the blind nor the release cord is being pulled to lower the blind.
