Abstract: A liquid crystal display device that allows efficient luminance control is presented. The device includes: first, second, and third color pixel areas; a first substrate and a second substrate; a first color filter disposed in the first color pixel area on the first substrate or the second substrate; a second color filter disposed in the second color pixel area on the first substrate or the second substrate; a third color filter disposed in the third color pixel area on the first substrate or the second substrate; and a liquid crystal layer disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate, wherein the first color pixel area includes a first transparent region at which the first color filter is not disposed, and a ratio of the first transparent region of the first color pixel area to the first color pixel area is in a range of 1/1000 to ½, inclusive.

Abstract: A display device improves horizontal crosstalk and an aperture ratio, and includes: a substrate; a gate line and a data line formed on the substrate; a thin film transistor connected to the gate line and the data line; a pixel electrode connected to the thin film transistor; a light block overlapping the thin film transistor on the pixel electrode; a light block passivation layer overlapping the thin film transistor and the data line on the light block; a common electrode formed on the pixel electrode, spaced apart from the pixel electrode with a plurality of microcavities interposed therebetween; a roof layer formed on the common electrode; an injection hole exposing a part of each of the plurality of microcavities; a liquid crystal layer filling the plurality of microcavities; and an encapsulation layer formed on the roof layer covering the injection hole to seal the microcavity.

Abstract: A display device includes a first substrate; a plurality of gate lines arranged in a row direction on the first substrate; a plurality of data lines arranged in a column direction intersecting the row direction; and a plurality of pixels formed in a plurality of pixel areas defined by the gate and data lines, the plurality of pixels comprising at least a first pixel and a second pixel repectively disposed in a first pixel area and a second pixel area that are immediately adjacent to each other. Each of the first and second pixels comprises a thin film transistor electrically connected to the gate and data lines, and a pixel electrode electrically connected to the thin film transistor. The data lines are disposed-apart by different distances from each other in the column direction. Each of the first and second pixel areas comprises a first edge portion adjacent to one of the gate lines and a second edge portion adjacent to another of the gate lines, a lengh of the first edge portion being greater than a lengh of the second edge portion. The thin film transistor is disposed at the first edge portion of the first and second pixel areas.
