    摘要: A sustain or scan electrode driver for a plasma display device including a power recovery circuit, a voltage storage circuit, and a switching circuit. Power recovery is achieved by a coupling a power source at a minus sustain voltage to the sustain or scan electrode driver circuit that includes a capacitor and an inductor for creating resonance with the panel capacitor and recovering the power used in sustain discharge. Power loss of switches used in the driver circuit may be reduced and power recovery efficiency may be increased by using an additional capacitor in the driver circuit that maintains terminals of the switch at a predetermined level.

    摘要: A PDP driving method. A falling ramp voltage is applied to a scan electrode so as to reset a state of wall charges of a discharge cell during a reset period. In this instance, a sustain electrode is maintained at a high voltage during an initial period for applying the falling ramp voltage, and the voltage at the sustain electrode is reduced to a normal voltage at a latter part of the period for applying the falling ramp voltage. Accordingly, the voltage applied to an address electrode is reduced in an address period since an erased amount of the wall charges of the address electrode is reduced during the reset period.

A sustain discharge before a reset period for initializing a cell which is sustain discharged in a previous subfield is generated as a weak discharge rather than a strong discharge. By generating a weak sustain discharge, the amount of wall charge formed in the exterior area of electrodes may be reduced. As a result, in the subsequent reset period, the wall charge can be controlled to be appropriate for addressing while preventing misfiring and low discharge.

    摘要: In a driving method of a plasma display device, a final voltage of a falling ramp voltage is set to a discharge firing voltage of all the discharge cells after applying a gradually rising ramp voltage during a reset period. A difference in voltage applied to an address electrode and to a scan electrode is set to be greater than the maximum discharge firing voltage in turn-on discharge cells in an address period. A bias voltage applied in a rising reset period, an address period, and a sustain period of subfields that express low grayscales is increased, and the address electrode is biased with a positive voltage in the sustain period. With this configuration, the problem of worsening the margins by loss of wall charges is solved since addressing is not influenced by the wall charges and performance of expressing low grayscales is increased.
