    Abstract: A magnetic sensor of the present invention has an elongate element portion having a magnetoresistive effect and a pair of elongate soft magnetic bodies that are arranged along the element portion on both sides of the element portion with regard to a short axis thereof. Each soft magnetic body includes a central portion that is adjacent to the element portion from one end to another end of the element portion with regard to a long axis direction thereof and a pair of end portions that protrude from the central portion in the long axis direction. A width of at least one of the end portions gradually decreases in a direction away from the central portion in at least a part of the end portions in the long axis direction thereof.

The determination value varies depending on an angle to be detected. The determination unit determines whether the angle sensor is in a predetermined condition by determining whether the determination value falls within a determination range. The determination unit varies at least one threshold value that represents at least one end of the determination range.

    Abstract: A displacement detection unit includes a magnet and a magnetic detector. The magnet includes a first magnetic-pole region polarized into a south pole and a second magnetic-pole region polarized into a north pole, and generates a magnetic field around the magnet. The magnetic detector is movable relative to the magnet in a first direction, and detects a change in the magnetic field and thereby detects a displacement of the magnet in the first direction. The magnet includes a transition section in which a ratio of a magnetic volume of the second magnetic-pole region in a second direction to a magnetic volume of the first magnetic-pole region in the second direction gradually varies in the first direction.
