The fragmentized metal structures are discharged through a discharge opening in small pieces ready for further processing.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for processing discarded rubber tires and rubber tire material to reduce the same to a pulverulent form of sufficient quality fiber the manufacture of other articles. Principally the rubber tire is subjected to repeated compression against the metal strand component of the tires thus causing the metal stranding to cut into or chew the rubber into a pulverulent form. During the processing of the rubber tire material it is broken down to the point that its constituents such as metal fibers and polymer fibers are separated therefrom. The pulverized rubber, together with its separated constituents may then be classified and the constituents separated for further use. The rubber tire processing apparatus incorporates an external housing structure and a rubber processing drum that is rotatable therein. The drum and the housing define interrelated wedging surfaces that cause the rubber tire material to be continuously compressed and worked against itself and worked against the metal stranding of the tires to develop severe wedging, tearing and shearing forces that rapidly break it down to a pulverulent form. Both the housing and drum incorporate replaceable wedging and wearing structures that are preferably composed of very hard, wear resistant material that provide the rubber processing machine with an extensive service life.

    摘要: Bulky waste materials may be effectively reduced to a desirable recycling particle size by a waste recycling device equipped with a preshredding chamber and a shredding chamber. Rotors equipped with differently shaped and configured impacting heads or blades strategically positioned about the rotors within the two chambers serve to break the waste materials into progressively smaller sized particles. The preshredding rotor is typically operated at a lower rotational speed than the shredding rotor. The shredding rotor may be equipped with shredding blades which protectively retract from a working zone when exposed to excessive shearing forces. Relatively rigid waste materials such as wooden pallets may be effectively and continuously reduced in massive quantities to a recyclable size with the waste recycling device.

    摘要: A conveyor feeds cylindrical bales to the chopper and shredder which includes three rotary cylindrical cutters extending across the feeder at the forward end and rearwardly over the feeder whereby the hay is compressed by the cutters and the conveyor. A discharge conveyor is provided under the cutters for removing cut and chopped hay. The housing extends over the back side of the cutters and screens are provided between the cutters and the housing wall thereby defining a chamber into which hay is blown and falls to the bottom for discharge by the discharge conveyor. A throat is provided rearwardy of the cutters and includes an arcuate frame to which forwardly extending spring biased inwardly pivotal members are provided for guiding the hay into the cutters. Rearwardly extending flexible rubber flaps are secured to the arcuate frame and extend rearwardly and radially inwardly and then forwardly to prevent chopped hay from being thrown rearwardly. The cutters include spiral rings running the length thereof held in spaced relation to the cylinders of the cutters by upstanding posts. Blades are secured in spaced relationship along the spiral rings. Stationary blades are provided between the cutters and between the feeder and the bottom cutter.

    摘要: Apparatus for shredding sheet material including a housing having a front inlet and a rear outlet. A horizontal serrated abutment extends across the lower boundary of the front inlet through which sheet material is fed, as by a pinch conveyor. A horizontal arbor spaced rearward of the abutment rotates within the housing carrying cutting elements having pyramidal tips which trace paths of rotation that cause them to pass downward through the open regions between the serrations in the abutment, piercing the sheet material. Arcuate sections adjacent the tips of the cutting elements cause a ripping action to occur. The shredder operates at a much lower noise level than comparable equipment and provides uniform shredded materials that have interlocking edges.
