摘要: The present invention concerns those elements that, by means of valves, allow the balance of forces acting upon the walls of a hermetic container during its sinking in a liquid, thus preventing the stress produced due to the effect from an increased volume of liquid applied on the external face of the container. It also prevents spillage of the content into the surrounding environment through the said elements and is provided with the means to equally balance the forces cited during eventual re-floatation of the aforementioned container.

摘要: A liquid cargo carrying maritime vessel including a plurality of liquid cargo carrying tanks and a plurality of gas expansion trunks wherein each gas expansion trunk is above, associated with, and in fluid communication with a respective tank therebelow, via slotted apertures in the deck. Each gas expansion trunk is fixedly positioned on a portion of a deck of the vessel above the associated tank and in fluid/tight relationship with the deck over a periphery of the trunk which encloses the totality of slotted apertures in the deck. Depending on the attributes of the ship, the expansion trunk is preferably located directly above the tank and at the highest point available of the tank and as far forward on the tank as possible. Alternatively, and depending upon obstructive constraints and vessel conditions, the trunk may be placed in other locations such as aftmost on the tank or inbetween. Gas expansion trunks are suitable for being retrofitted onto existing ships or integrated into the configuration of new ships.

摘要: A fuel tank for a personal watercraft of the type in which a main body portion of the fuel tank is disposed in a watercraft body. An oil supply port member of the fuel tank is provided at a deck constituting an upper portion of the watercraft body. The main body portion and the oil supply port member are connected to each other by a filler hose. The oil supply port member is closed with an oil supply cap. The oil supply port member includes a cylindrical passage provided with an oil supply port at one end thereof and with a hose connection portion at the other end thereof. A stopper for receiving the tip end of an oil supply nozzle is provided at an intermediate portion of the passage. The supply nozzle for re-supplying the fuel can be prevented from penetrating into the main body portion to a needlessly large extent. As a result, the main body portion of the fuel tank can be prevented from suffering scratches or the like.

摘要: The present invention permits the positioning and support of a fuel tank in a stable state while preventing unnecessary stresses from being generated in the fuel tank. A tapered, single projecting portion for positioning is formed on either the bottom portion of an inner wall of a hull or the bottom of the fuel tank. A tapered, single depressed portion for positioning is fitted on the projecting portion, and is formed on the opposing bottom portion of the fuel tank or the inner wall of the hull, respectively. A space is formed between a peripheral wall of the fuel tank and the inner wall of the hull that permits contraction and expansion of the fuel tank.

摘要: A device for impeding the flow of liquid cargo from a storage compartment of a water-traveling vessel upon damage to a hull of the vessel comprising a barrier member including (a) a sheet of fabric material resistant to the liquid cargo and having a predetermined limited degree of permeability thereto, and (b) reinforcement elements attached to the sheet for strengthening the fabric material and for at least inhibiting a tear from spreading in the sheet more than a predetermined distance from a point of perforation of the sheet. The flow impedance device also comprises support members for supporting the barrier member inside the storage compartment of the water-traveling vessel. The reinforcement elements take the form of a multiplicity of ribs disposed at a plurality of different angles with respect to each other. A related method for minimizing petroleum spillage into the environment upon damage to a petroleum-carrying water-traveling vessel on a body of water comprises the steps of (i) providing a bag constructed of fabric material having reinforcement ribs of synthetic resin material permeating the fabric material along the lengths of the respective ribs, (ii) unfolding the bag from a folded configuration, (iii) placing the bag on the surface of the body of water, (iv) pumping petroleum from a compartment of the vessel into the bag, (v) temporarily retaining the pumped petroleum in the bag, and (vi) removing the petroleum from the bag.

摘要: An arrangement for dividing the free liquid surface of a liquid cargo contained in a general cargo or bulk cargo ship. The arrangement includes parallel upright metal sheets forming a plurality of parallel shieldings and a plurality of compartments located side by side. The sheets are adapted to be attached in the horizontal hatch of a ship with the metal sheets vertically upright in the hatch. While arranged in the hatch, the lower edges of the sheets are located below the free liquid surface of the liquid cargo and the upper edges of the metal sheets are located at or above the free liquid surface of the liquid cargo.
