摘要： Methods and apparatus implementing and using techniques for scaling a character having stems. A character including stems and having an associated output resolution and an associated bit depth can be received. The counters defined by the stems can be grouped into one or more chains of counters. The stems of the character can be aligned based on a stem alignment policy while the chains of counters are balanced based on the output resolution. A pixel map can be created at the output resolution and the output bit depth based on the aligned stems.

摘要： An image processing device includes a car navigation processing unit 12 for processing a WQVGA signal, a TV receiving processing unit 15 for processing an NTSC signal, and an image resolution converting unit 17 which carries out an image resolution conversion of the NTSC signal from the TV receiving processing unit 15 to a WQVGA signal. The TV receiving processing unit 15 includes a pixel aspect ratio converting unit 104 for carrying out a pixel aspect ratio conversion of character data acquired from a WQVGA-ready character-font set 2, and a graphics/TV image compositing unit 106 for compositing an output from the pixel aspect ratio converting unit 104 with the NTSC signal, and for outputting a composite signal to the image resolution converting unit 17.

摘要： A method of generating an output image having a lower resolution than that of a source image is provided. A thinned image is generated by discarding outer pixels of the source image. In parallel with generation of the thinned image, an averaged image is generated, such that each pixel of the averaged image represents an average of a subset of pixels in the source image. A first output image is then generated by subsampling the pixels of the thinned image. A final output image is generated as a function of both the first output image and the averaged image.

A set of related images is transmitted from a local processing system to each of a plurality of remote processing systems over the network. Each of the images corresponds to a different version of the display related operation. User inputs selecting one or more of the images and indicative of user preferences regarding the images are received at each of the remote processing systems and transmitted over the network to the local processing systems. The user inputs are then used in the local processing system to select one of the plurality of versions of the display related operation.

摘要： In response to a command to draw text on a screen, a computer's operating system creates a superglyph bitmap that combines text and a background color into a single bitmap. The bitmap is then transferred to screen memory by either a graphics driver or the operating system itself, depending upon whether the graphics driver has special characteristics for displaying the bitmap such as monochrome-to-color conversion. With this division of tasks, graphics drivers may be simplified to handle tasks for which they are uniquely qualified and the operating system handles more general tasks such a creating the bitmap. The concept may also be applied to other types of bitmaps, wherever it is advantageous to create bitmaps with the operating system and transfer bitmaps with either a graphics driver or the operating system.

摘要： An apparatus and a method for character and graphics pattern generation in a bit mapped graphics display system is disclosed that includes a pixel data manager 14 for supplying character bit maps and graphics patterns to a visible display memory 22. A character information memory 24 is utilized for the storage of character descriptive information which includes an address table 26, macro-instructions 28, 30, and 32, and character bit maps 34, 36, and 38. Each character in a set of characters has an associated macro-instruction and character bit map. The address table contains memory addresses that point to the macro-instructions. Each macro-instruction contains executable instructions that establish the size and location of a corresponding character bit map. To supply a character to the visible display memory, the pixel data manager fetches and executes a corresponding macro-instruction. Overhead burden on the central processing unit is minimized.
