Abstract:
A printing apparatus comprising: a printing unit configured to perform a print processing based on a full-color mode and a non-full-color mode, the print processing being performed, in the full-color mode, based on coloring materials of a plurality of color and by using all the coloring materials required for printing of printing target data, the print processing being performed, in the non-full-color mode in which a part of the coloring materials required for printing of the printing target data is unavailable, by using the coloring materials except for the unavailable coloring material, a storage unit storing reprinting data including at least the image data of the color of the unavailable coloring material when the print processing is performed in the non full-color mode; and a reprinting unit performing a print processing by using the reprinting data after the coloring material which was unavailable in the non-full-color mode becomes available.
Abstract:
A method of controlling an image forming apparatus supporting a black optimization printing option in a host apparatus includes executing a printer driver of the image forming apparatus, setting the black optimization printing option in a user interface of the executed printer driver, generating a second color matching table by using an existing first color matching table and color properties corresponding to red, blue, and green values of a document to be printed based on the set black optimization printing option, selecting a first printing method to print the document by using the first color matching table or a second printing method to print the document by using the second color matching table, based on the red, green, and blue values of the document, and transmitting the document and print data of the document to which a color matching table corresponding to the selected printing method is applied to the image forming apparatus.
Abstract:
An image forming apparatus for which a first mode using toners of plural colors including a black toner and a second mode using only the black toner can be set, includes a first printing cumulatively counting part that cumulatively counts a first number of pages for which image forming has been executed by using the toners of plural colors; a first printing determining part that determines whether the first number of pages counted by the first printing cumulatively counting part has exceeded a threshold; and a correction control part that controls not to execute a correcting process for image forming that uses the toners of plural colors but to execute a correcting process for image forming that uses only the black toner, when the second mode has been set in a case where the first printing determining part has determined that the first number of pages has exceeded the threshold.
Abstract:
A color image processing method, which is adapted to convert a first color signal including a solid color signal to a second color signal including a solid color signal, includes: determining a device independent color signal on a color coordinate in a color system from the first color signal; determining a solid color signal of the second color signal having the minimum or substantially minimum color difference from the solid color signal of the first color signal; and determining a color signal other than the solid color signal of the second color signal to be calorimetrically equal to the device independent color signal from the device independent color signal and the solid color signal of the second color signal.
Abstract:
A method of adapting color values, which have been produced for a first printing process to a second printing process, is performed so that the visual impressions of the colors in the two printing processes are identical. Starting from a first printing process adaptation U without maintaining the black build-up, which transforms the color values [C1,M1,Y1,K1] of the first printing process into color values [C2,M2,Y2,K2]U of the second printing process, and a second printing process adaptation V while maintaining the black build-up, which transforms the color values [C1,M1,Y1,K1] of the first printing process into color values [C2,M2,Y2,K2]V of the second printing process, a new printing process adaptation W is determined by weighted averaging of the transformed color values [C2,M2,Y2,K2]U and [C2,M2,Y2,K2]V.
Abstract:
When there is a copy inhibiting dot pattern in an image, an image destruction processing unit performs image destruction processing to image data, and a storage processing unit stores in a storage unit the image data after the image destruction processing. An RGB/CMY conversion processing unit converts the image data into CMY image data C1, M1, Y1, and a UCR/black creation processing unit sets coefficient α of Formula “K1=min (C1, M1, Y1)×α” to “1,” and creates image data K1, C2, M2, Y2 by using Formula “C2=C1−K1, M2=M1−K1, Y2=Y1−K1.”
Abstract:
Color processing methods and apparatus are provided that blend the gray component replacement (“GCR”) level of arbitrarily-specified input color data with an estimate of the GCR level of an output profile, and then converts processed device-independent data to output CMYK data that has a GCR level that substantially matches the GCR level of the input CMYK data. Methods and apparatus in accordance with this invention may be used to receive CMYK data that approximates a spot color, and provide tints of spot colors using an output profile that has a GCR level that differs from the GCR level of the input color data.
Abstract:
When a recording agent amount limiting process is carried out, a color reproduction range is narrowed, and therefore gradation properties of dark areas are deteriorated and information originally held by an image is sometimes undesirably lost. By obtaining (401) a colorant amount for each target pixel of input color image data, calculating (402) a colorant amount of a peripheral area of the target pixel, and correcting (400) a density range of the input color image data based on the colorant amount of the target pixel and the colorant amount of the peripheral area of the target pixel, amounts of recording agent are limited and reductions in image quality are prevented.
Abstract:
An image forming apparatus and a method of controlling the same, in which a toner of another color is substituted for a toner having a remaining amount less than or equal to a minimum amount sufficient to perform remaining printing operation. A substitute toner used for the remaining printing operation is determined according to the amounts of toners remaining in the developing cartridges. A length of time to exhaust the different toners of different colors is balanced so that all developing cartridges are exchanged at a same time.
Abstract:
In accordance with the present invention, a system and method are described for producing pure gray tones on a multi-color document output device that includes a system for operating on device independent color data having multiple color components, which color data corresponds to one or more associated electronic documents. The system and method function to extract gray data by the use of tristimulus values in a range specified by a functional relationship of a selected tristimulus value.
