Circuit arrangement for separating the components of a PAL color television signal, in which the (digitized) u- and v-signals of the subcarrier frequency are passed through two delay lines which produce different time delays (for example 283.5 and 284 chrominance subcarrier periods): an improved cross-talk attenuation from the luminance signal to the chrominance signals in the lower sideband is then obtained.

A composite PAL television signal decoder comprises a first delay device for delaying an input PAL television signal A by one horizontal line scan period minus one quarter of a period of the color sub-carrier signal to produce a first delayed signal B, a second delay device for delaying the signal A by one half of a period of the color sub-carrier signal to produce a second delayed signal C, a third delay device for delaying the signal C by one horizontal line scan period minus one quarter of a period of the color sub-carrier signal to produce a third delayed signal D, means to derive a luminance component Y as one half (A+D), means to derive a chrominance component U as one quarter (B+D) minus one quarter (A+C), and means to derive a chrominance component V as one quarter (C+D) minus one quarter (A+B).

A circuit arrangement for demodulating the chrominance signal portion of a color television signal in an apparatus for receiving at least said color television signal is described. The chrominance signal to be demodulated is of the type that is coded according to the ISA (Identify Suppressing Alternately) system, i.e. the chromatic information modulates in amplitude by carrier suppression a subcarrier along two axes in quadrature, one of the axes being switched 180.degree. each line, a single reference signal of constant phase being inserted only every second line and serving as a reference signal for the demodulation of said subcarrier and as an identification signal for the switching. According to the invention, an electronic gate is provided which opens during part of every second line scanning period to allow the passage of the single reference signal to a passive crystal filter. An amplitude detector circuit receives a plurality of oscillations at subcarrier frequency from the filter and supplies an identification signal for a switching voltage generator which controls the electronic gate and synchronizes a change-over switch which operates at line frequency for obtaining the demodulated chromatic information.

A colour synchronizing system for a colour television receiver is constructed according to a signal transmission system in which a pair of colour signals effect simultaneous quadrature balanced modulation of a colour subcarrier with respect to first and second mutually perpendicular modulation axes, the second of which undergoes phase alternation of 180* for successive horizontal lines and in which the resulting colour television signal includes a colour sync signal rendering it possible to discern the alternating polarities of a chrominance signal. Said colour sync signal includes first and second components carried in the initial part of each horizontal line so as to appear concurrently or in succession and has a phase displacement of 90* to each other, the first component being of a fixed phase, and the second component being of a phase which is periodically switched in a manner corresponding to the phase alternation of the second modulation axis for successive horizontal lines. For use in the demodulation along one of the modulation axes which does not undergo phase reversal, a reference subcarrier is formed by deriving a subcarrier of a frequency equal to double the frequency of the colour subcarrier from an offset subcarrier of a frequency fsc + OR - 2n - 1/2 fH, where fsc denotes the frequency of the colour subcarrier, fH line frequency and n a positive integer, frequency dividing by two the subcarrier of a frequency equal to double the frequency of the colour subcarrier, and choosing either polarity of the resulting subcarrier.
摘要:
A method and arrangement for the transmission of synchronizing information to color television apparatus, particularly when operated in accordance with the PAL (V-axis) color television system. The required synchronizing signals are all combined within one signal which is then transmitted over a single video transmission line to the color television apparatus. The four required synchronizing signals are the blanking signal, the sync signal, the registration pulse (burst gating pulse) of the color sync signal, and the color carrier signal. The blanking signal and the sync signal are added with identical polarity, whereas the registration pulse (burst gating pulse) of the color sync signal is added with opposite polarity and with equal amplitude. The blanking signal and the registration pulse (burst gating pulse) assume the identical amplitude region. The color carrier signal is added to the preceding sum after suppression of the color carrier frequency portions.

Phase errors in a PAL color television receiver are eliminated. The color signals are derived from the sum and difference of two terms, the first being the modulated subcarrier, delayed by a period substantially equal to the duration of a line while the other term represents a signal obtained by mixing the nondelayed subcarrier with the subcarrier delayed by a period substantially twice as long as the duration of a line.
