摘要： Apparatus for splitting logs comprises a base frame carrying a splitting wedge which has an upwardly facing blade edge, and which is associated with means for supporting a log with its lower end resting on the blade edge. A post projects upwardly from the base at a point spaced away from the wedge and carries pivot means for a beam. The beam has a hammer weight adjacent one end which is arranged to strike the upper end of the log supported on the wedge. Means are provided limiting downward movement of the beam to prevent the hammer weight from striking the wedge. The apparatus is operated manually by raising the hammer and letting this fall onto the top end of the log.

摘要： A machine for processing fallen trees into split logs. A mobile frame having wheels mounted thereto includes a wench having an extendable cable removably attachable to the fallen tree. The cable extends through a chute to enable the fallen trees to be pulled therethrough. A hydraulically driven saw pivotally mounted at the end of the chute is operable to cut off portions of the fallen tree. The cut-off portion rests atop a ramp which has an inclined surface allowing the cut-off portion to be rolled into a splitter. The splitter includes a hydraulically operated ram slidably mounted in a secondary frame mounted atop the main frame of the machine. The ram is moveable towards a pair of intersecting stationary cutting blades for splitting the cut-off portion of the tree into split logs.

摘要： A carcass bone splitting tool having a rod-like shank being bent over at one end to form a handle. A foot member being connected at the other end of the rod-like shaft which is shaped to prevent rupture of entrails when the carcass is being opened. An elongate cutting blade member is mounted on the rod-like shank adjacent the foot member and is used for splitting open the bone of the carcass. A striker bar is also provided to drive the blade through the bone, such as the pelvic bone and breastbone, of the dead animal. The tool described herein is portable and when not in use, the blade is protected by the striker bar which can be carried by the splitting tool.

摘要： A machine for felling standing trees, cutting logs into segments of the desired length and splitting logs lengthwise. A shear blade is mounted for reciprocal movement within a framework by means of a hydraulic cylinder or cylinders so as to urge the log against an anvil at the rear of the frame upon the forward cutting stroke. The frame is pivotably affixed to the drawbar lift assembly of a tractor so as to be rotatable between a horizontal attitude for felling standing timber and a vertical or upright attitude for cutting and splitting logs. The anvil is pivotably connected to the frame, and includes an operating mechanism whereby it can be swung open to admit a standing tree and then closed and latched to sever the tree. The cutting edge of the shear blade is in the form of a V-shaped notch so that the log is stabilized while being severed in opposed directions upon the forward, cutting stroke. A saddle moveable along the frame with the shear blade laterally stabilizes the blade and, upon retraction of the blade, dislodges logs which may become stuck thereon.

摘要： A tractor supported and driven mechanism for removing tree stumps and splitting logs which causes linear movement of a rotary cutter disk for milling away stumps from the side portions thereof and a ram assembly forcing a log against a wedge member. The mechanism incorporates a frame structure having a hydraulically driven slide supported and guided by parallel structural members of the frame. The cutter disk is rotatably supported on the slide structure and is driven by the power take-off of the tractor by means of an elongated non-circular drive shaft which is received in driving engagement by a central non-circular drive opening of the cutter. The cutter disk is movable along the length of the non-circular drive shaft while maintaining driving engagement therewith.

摘要： An apparatus for cutting wood is disclosed wherein a trailer provides an operator station at one end and a plurality of components for automatically cutting and splitting wood into fireplace-sized pieces. A boom arm is controlled by the operator to load logs onto a log deck. The log deck includes two parts which may be telescoped together during transportation and extended to receive long logs during operation. Cams allow a single log to be loaded onto a set of rollers which advances the log into a cutting station. The cutting station includes additional rollers for engaging the sides of the log and driving it to a predetermined location. Then, the saw automatically cuts the log and the cut piece is released to fall into a splitting section. A sensor detects when the log is in the splitting section and a hydraulic ram is activated to split the log into pieces. The pieces then fall down a slanted plate onto a conveyor belt for loading into a truck. If it is desired not to split the wood, an intercepting chute is moved into a location between the cutting station and the splitting station to direct unsplit logs onto the conveyor. The apparatus is operated by an engine which drives a hydraulic pump to power a number of hydraulic motors which operate the various parts of the apparatus. Once a log has engaged the rollers associated with the cutting station, operation is essentially automatic, thus allowing the operator to obtain additional logs and place them on the log deck.

摘要： A log splitting apparatus having an elongated frame, a selectively actuatable log moving ram mounted at one end of the frame, and a log splitting wedge assembly mounted at the opposite end of the frame. The wedge assembly includes a plurality of wedge tip sections which are removably mountable in vertically stacked relation and having interlocking lugs and recesses between mating upper and lower sides thereof for maintaining the wedge sections in proper alignment. A base plate is mounted on the frame for receiving and retaining the stack of wedge tip sections in proper orientation on the frame, and an upstanding support is mounted on the frame for vertically supporting the wedge tip sections and serving as a reactionary member for forces exerted on the wedge tip sections during log splitting. The wedge tip sections are further positively secured in mounted position by a vertically disposed clamping bolt threaded engaging the base plate. Such apparatus permits the use of a plurality of identically formed wedge tip sections for use in different sized log splitters, as well as enabling quick and economical replacement of damaged portions of the wedge assembly.

The wood splitter is capable of being pivoted from a horizontal position along one side of the vehicle to a vertical position at the rear of the vehicle or to any angular position therebetween, and is operational in any of these positions.
