摘要： A personal flotation device includes front and rear panels secured together to form an aesthetically appealing life vest. The panels are provided with relatively thin sheets of buoyant material of sufficient buoyancy to cause a user to remain afloat while in the water. The vest is provided with an inflatable bladder which may be readily inflated to increase the buoyancy of the flotation vest. The flotation vest is also provided with a collar through which the bladder extends and serves to cause the user to float face-up when the bladder is inflated.

摘要： Disclosed are a fluid pressure sensing device and system for selectively inflating flotation equipment, e.g., life saving vests, jackets, rafts, etc. wherein, when the pressure of the fluid exterior to a fluid pressure sensing member thereof substantially reaches a selected fluid pressure, e.g., two feet of water, a resilient member thereof, e.g., an ''''0'''' ring, is forced out of sealing engagement with a geometrically shaped slot selectively formed in the inner wall of the fluid sensing member and fluid, such as water, enters through geometrically shaped openings selectively formed in the bottom wall of the geometrically shaped slot and into a cavity formed in the fluid pressure sensing member; wherein the fluid dissolves a fluid soluble member positioned within said cavity, e.g., a water soluble disc, and thereby releases a gas control or releasing member thereof, e.g., a spring biased slidable shaft having a pointed end thereon; whereby the gas control member moves to its gas releasing position, e.g., the pointed end of the slidable shaft pierces a frangible seal on a CO2 bottle or cartridge and permits passage of the gas from the gas storing member to the flotation equipment for inflation thereof.

摘要： The subject invention is a buoyancy jacket constructed of a pair of separate buoyancy compartments overlying each other. There is an inner buoyancy compartment and an outer buoyancy compartment with the inner buoyancy compartment to be located directly adjacent the skin of the wearer of the jacket. Each of the buoyancy compartments are to be inflated by a separate inflation valve. The body of the jacket includes a plurality of baffles with each baffle including a small loop of sheet material. Each loop is to be fixedly connected between the outer layer of the jacket and the intermediate layer, and also between the inner layer of the jacket and the intermediate layer. It is the function of the loops to limit the expansion of the buoyancy compartments when inflated.

摘要： A first belt of the invention--substantially hollow and worn about the waist--is able to be filled with a compressed gas from a cartridge coupled with it so as to unfold and expand outwardly under action of the compressed gas which fills it. A second belt of the invention--of conventional construction and also worn about the waist--underlies the first belt and is tethered to it. When the first belt is filled with the compressed gas, its length increases to form a tube riding under the armpits and holding a wearer vertically in the water as a life preserver, allowing the wearer to be able to swim about. Couplings are provided on the first belt for maintaining its configuration while allowing the tube to be slid over the arms to the shoulders and neck area in continuing to hold the wearer vertically, but as a life vest, keeping the head of the wearer out of the water. The tether prevents the tube from coming loose and floating away.
