摘要: Methods and apparatus for antialiasing images that contain one or more image objects such as colored text, line art, and graphical objects, such that the edge pixels of an antialiased image object will exhibit relatively uniform values, and the appearance of the image object is thereby improved. In one embodiment, an improved antialiasing filter is employed to detect at least one region within the received image. Upon detecting a region containing a background image level that adjoins an image object having pixel values in a range other than a range of limit values, the antialiasing filter sets the pixel values of the edge or border pixels of the image object to substantially the same value. Selection among a logical filter operation and an averaging filter operation may be adaptively employed in the antialiasing filter in order to obtain the desired uniformity of pixel values.

摘要: Historically, the creation of digital line screens was considered to be a subset of the creation of the digital cluster dot screens. The geometric constraints necessary for digital cluster dot screens were imported into the creation of digital line screens. Accordingly, the number of available angles or digital line screens was also significantly limited. In various exemplary embodiments of the systems and methods according to this invention, a digital line screen cell is defined such that the vectors defining the digital line screen cell are not necessarily isometric and are not necessarily at right angles to each other. By using a high-addressability grid that has different resolutions along x and y axis of the grid, the systems and methods according to this invention allow the components of the vectors along the high-addressability direction to be noninteger multiples of the components of the vectors along the other direction of the grid.

摘要: A method for reducing or eliminating residual error when nullblanknull pixels are found in the input image data is provided, such as one that can be used in printers of the type which use error diffusion as part of the halftoning process. When a blank pixel is found, the residual error may be immediately reduced in magnitude in one embodiment. In another embodiment, a nullhop countnull value is increased (or incremented) when a blank pixel is found, and if sufficient consecutive blank pixels exist in the input data, the hop count achieves a threshold and then either decimates or eliminates the residual error, thus limiting the migration of residual error. If a non-blank pixel is found in the input data before the threshold is achieved, the hop count is reset to zero.

摘要: An image processing apparatus which includes an image reading apparatus comprising a first memory, a book image corrector, and a selector. The first memory stores optical positioning information of the image reading apparatus. The book image corrector performs an image correction based on reference data from an image read by the image reading apparatus when the image is of a book document. The selector selects one of the plurality of different correction modes of the second corrector based on the optical positioning information stored in the first memory. The book image corrector includes a first corrector configured to correct in a main scanning direction a distortion of the image of the book document based on the reference data and a second corrector having a plurality of different correction modes configured to correct a distortion of the image of the book document in a sub-scanning direction.

摘要: A digital still camera is used for taking and storing digital representations of a plurality of images. A printer, such as an ink jet printer or a laser printer, is used for generating graphical representations of selected ones of the plurality of images on a preselected print media such as a paper. A flash memory card, floppy diskette, direct data link or some other data transfer scheme is used to transfer the digital representations of the plurality of images from the digital still camera to the printer. The printer includes programming for generating a combination proof sheet and order form. The combination proof sheet and order form can include an array of thumbnail images and a plurality of image selection and/or image enhancement user designation areas such as bubbles to be filled in by the user with a pencil. The printer includes a scanner and related circuitry and software for scanning the combination proof sheet and order form to detect the user designation areas completed by the user. The programming in the printer thereafter causes it to generate at least one final print sheet with the images and enhancements designated by the user on the combination proof sheet and order form. The proof sheet and order form can be used to designate the number of final prints of a selected image, the size and/or cropping of the prints, the brightness, color balance, background, borders and so forth.

摘要: A method of altering the appearance of an input digital image when printed, the digital image comprised of an array of pixels and wherein each pixel is assigned a digital value representing marking information, the method comprises the steps of defining each pixel as either a background pixel, interior pixel, or an edge pixel; identifying enclosed edge pixels located on the edge of enclosed areas of print characters having enclosed areas; and, reassigning the digital value of one or more enclosed edge pixels independently of other pixels. The rendering of the present invention occurs post RIP.

摘要: Image data, for example, image data that was gradation processed and replaced with a raster image is stored in every page of a page memory. The image data stored in this page memory is rotated in the left or right direction by 90null at a specified angle. By this rotation of image data, pixels with positional relation changed from that before the rotation are corrected to come near to the positional relation before the rotation. Then, an image is formed based on image data with the corrected positional relation of pixels.
