    Abstract: Reduced-profile connection components are described. The reduced-profile connection components are configured to connect various data transmission elements, including cables, network devices, and computing devices. A non-limiting example of a connection component includes a fiber optic connection component, including connectors, adapters, and assemblies formed therefrom. In some embodiments, the connection components may include mechanical transfer (MT) and multi-fiber push-on/pull-off (MPO) connection components, such as MT ferrules and MPO adapters. The reduced-profile connection components configured according to some embodiments have a smaller profile and/or require less parts to achieve a connection compared to conventional connection components. In some embodiments, the reduced-profile connection components may be used with conventional connection components. For example a reduced-profile connector may use a conventional MT ferrule to establish a connection within a conventional MPO adapter.

    Abstract: An optical connector holding two or more LC-type optical ferrules is provided. A plural of optical connectors are ganged together into when insert into an adapter. To remove the connectors together or individually a removal tool is attachable to one or more of the connectors. The removal tool has a plural of release arms that in first position can release the fiber optic connector from the adapter receptacle. Release aim in a second position prevents the fiber optic connector from being released from the adapter receptacle. The removal tool is moved distally to actuate or retain the fiber optic connectors within their corresponding adapter receptacle.

    Abstract: A fiber optic adapter for mating a multi-fiber optic ferrule connector and a multi-fiber optic connector. An engagement device may be integrated or molded as part of adapter receptacle at either end. The engagement device secures the multi-fiber connector. The adapter may be two-piece with a first portion detachable from a second portion, the first portion housing one or more integrated engagement devices and the second portion housing one or more replaceable engagement devices, or a receptacle configured to secure a latch configured on an outer housing of a connector.     Abstract: A multi-fiber, fiber optic connector is interchangeable between a male connector and a female connector by including a pin retainer having a releasable retention device configured to lock the pins in place within the retainer. The retention device may be opened, for example, with a release tool, to free the retention pins for removal of the pins. A method for switching a connector between a male connector configuration and a female connector configuration may be possible as a result of the releasable retention configuration.

    Abstract: Optical fiber connectors and adapters are disclosed. A connector includes a flat pin assembly including a pin, a mechanical transfer ferrule boot disposed around at least a portion of the assembly, a housing disposed around at least a portion of the ferrule, and a locking plate.
