    摘要: An apparatus for treating hydrocephaly has one housing which contains subcutaneously immplantable components for the measuring and controlling of fluid pressure. A second housing adapted to cooperate with the components in the first mentioned housing, contains the measuring and control components which remain outside a patient's skin. The components in both housings and the housings themselves are arranged for cooperation with each other, whereby an intracerebral space may be automatically drained in response to a predetermined, adjustable pressure.

    摘要: A reaction mass for a launching tube having a centrally positioned propellant charge for propelling a missile at its forward end and a reaction mass located rearwardly of the propellant charge which is propelled at the rear end, comprises an inert, readily fragmentizing, expellable reaction mass comprising a glass material which is internally prestressed and which disintegrates at the launch. The reaction mass is advantageously in the form of a glass cylinder which is either connected to a metallic pusher member arranged rearwardly of the propellant charge which is pushed by the ignition of the charge in a rearward direction, or it may comprise a glass cylinder which includes its own pusher head formation. The pusher itself is arrested by a brake positioned at the rear exit. In addition, the rear exit is closed by a diaphragm which may shatter after ignition of the propellant charge. The reaction mass may also comprise a front pusher face which is engaged with a rear brake positioned at the rear opening or it may comprise a plurality of layers of glass held to a pusher head which is arrested at the rear opening. In still another embodiment, the glass may comprise a plurality of flat discs held together in an assembly to a pusher member.

    摘要: The land mine, comprises a flat mine housing having top and bottom flat broad surfaces and a side edge which is at least partly cylindrical. A tubular bushing extends in the housing between the top and bottom and it is closed on one of the surfaces by a cover. A firing system is located in the bushing for igniting an explosive charge which is contained in the remaining portion of the housing. Either or both of the top and bottom surfaces contain one or more projectile-forming hollow charge covers which engage directly over the explosive charge located within the housing. The mine may be formed with a half-cylindrical surface and a flat edge having a notch for engagement over a central mounting rod, or the mine may be made as a complete cylinder or disc. The hollow-charge liners are advantageously made circular and are arranged at one or more equally spaced locations around the surface of the top and bottom of the mine housing.

    摘要: A propelling or driving force generating system for propelling a device such as projectile in a fire arm comprises a combustion chamber cylinder formed at the end of a barrel containing a bore for the passage of a projectile and in which is movable in pressure differential piston. The piston includes an annular ring portion having surfaces on respectively axially opposite ends which are exposed to pressure forces existing in intermediate chambers defined between these surfaces and end walls of the surrounding cylinder in widened annular portions of the cylinder. The cylinder and piston are provided with one or more passages for the passage of a propellant component into the combustion chamber. The various propellant components which are preferably of a nature such that they will react hypergolically, are connected through valve means in these passages and by a central plunger element of said valve means into the combustion chamber. Reaction of the components generates combustion gases in the combustion chamber to force the piston backwardly in a working stroke and to produce a force for expelling the projectile through the bore at the opposite end of the combustion chamber. The construction is characterized by an arrangement which provides an additional moving force on the piston in order to aid its working stroke movement at the initial stage of such movement.

The fiber-reinforced plastic part is subject to being stressed by longitudinal and/or bending forces. A bush is retained by an appropriate retaining element. Disposed around the bush is a fiber-reinforced plastic part forming an end loop. An inner loop is formed within the outer loop with the outer curved boundary of the inner loop bearing on the bush. In a first embodiment, the inner loop is disposed completely within inner side walls of side portions of the end loop. In second and third embodiments, the inner loop penetrates the side portions of the end loop in a laminar or braided arrangement.

    摘要: An air intake control for an air utilizing jet aircraft engine. The control is provided with fixed and movable air intake control ramps and the positioning of such movable ramps for air control purposes is determined by the static pressure above one thereof modified by the static pressure of the external air flow, the total pressure and the angle of attack of the aircraft. One control parameter is produced by a device responsive to the relationship between the static pressure above the one movable ramp and the total pressure of the external air flow. Particularly, this pressure relationship is calculated as a function of the operating cylinder feedback signal indicating the actual position of the center ramp, and is applied as a modifying value to a summing junction provided in the control circuit to produce a variable demand signal. The variable demand signal so generated is then compared with a signal representing a corresponding actual pressure relationship and the error signal, if any, so generated effects a corrective movement of the movable ramps until the error signal becomes zero.

    摘要: An acceleration sensing and safety-device actuating system, for actuating a safety device, such as a crash-sensitive automobile air bag detonator. A differential amplifier forms part of an operational integrator responsive to an acceleration sensor and a reference potential. A threshold device, responsive to proper operation of the reference potential, triggers an output stage to set off the safety device when the differential amplifier output indicates a given deceleration. An isolating circuit isolates the output stage for a given time after starting the automobile. A control switch shorts the operating voltage in response to low operating potential or an inoperative safety circuit, and turns on a warning indicator.

    摘要: The converter comprises a plurality of series-connected bistable fluidic elements each having a supply input, two outputs separated by a jet splitter, and two conical inputs. The outputs of each bistable fluidic element are connected to respective control inputs of the next preceding bistable element.     摘要: In the disclosed detector, data is passed into two channels. In one channel successive interword pulses are gated out and the resulting pulses stretched at least one-half pulse width. In the second channel pulses representing the entire data word stretched so that the interword pulses overlap. After the data words are suitably synchronized to equalize the stretching delays, an exclusive OR gate compares the channel outputs to produce a step representing the interword interval. The step opens a counter which counts a predetermined number of clock pulses to define the beginning of the next word. A delay at the beginning of the channels eliminates any lead between the data and the corresponding clock pulses.

    摘要: Weapons system for both detection and affecting of stationary or moving objects. A laser beam is generated at a relatively low power level and caused to monitor, as by sweeping, a predetermined zone or space. Said laser beam or a portion thereof is reflected by and from an object appearing within said zone or space and is sensed by suitable detection means. The detection means provides the input to a computer which then locks the generator onto said object and simultaneously increases the power emitted therefrom to a predetermined higher, as destructive, value. Friendly objects operating within the same area can be caused to emanate a signal beam which is sensed simultaneously with the sensing of the reflected laser beam and prevents the actuation of the computer.
