Abstract:
Systems, methods and articles of manufacture for generating and displaying a preview image of a content area are described herein. An embodiment includes rendering an image representing the content area requested by a browser, providing the rendered image to the browser for display, and enabling the browser to display the requested content area in place of the rendered image when the content area is received by the browser. The method further includes updating language defining the requested content area to reference the rendered image and to enable transition from a display of the rendered image to a display of the requested content area, and providing the updated language to the browser to enable the browser to display the rendered image while the requested content area is being provided to the browser.
Abstract:
A method and system for predicting a next navigation event are described. Aspects of the disclosure minimize the delay between a navigation event and a network response by predicting the next navigation event. The system and method may then prerender content associated with the next navigation event. For example, the method and system may predict a likely next uniform resource locator during web browsing to preemptively request content from the network before the user selects the corresponding link on a web page. The methods describe a variety of manners of predicting the next navigation event, including examining individual and aggregate historical data, text entry prediction, and cursor input monitoring.
Abstract:
A system obtains multiple signals associated with first and second hostnames or subtrees. The system uses the multiple signals to determine whether the first hostname or subtree is a mirror of the second hostname or subtree. The multiple signals may include, for example, a same link structure and/or sitemap for the first and second hostnames or subtrees, duplicate content associated with the first and second hostnames or subtrees, a same Internet Protocol (IP) address or subnet for the first and second hostnames or subtrees, a same owner for the first and second hostnames or subtrees, nearly duplicate content associated with the first and second hostnames or subtrees, similarity between the hostnames of the first and second hostnames or subtrees; and/or an indication that one hostname or subtree of the first and second hostnames or subtrees redirects to the other hostname or subtree.

Abstract:
Systems, methods and articles of manufacture for reducing or eliminating handshake delay caused in establishing a network connection are described herein. Embodiments disclosed relate to reducing or eliminating the delay cause in establishing a network connection that is caused by the traditional exchange of connection request and acknowledgement data segments performed each time a connection is established between two computers using a reliable streaming protocol such as TCP. Further embodiments allow a server in communication with one or more clients using a reliable streaming protocol to begin responding to requests from the clients immediately without having to wait for connection establishment by including in a connection request data segment a content request. In one embodiment, this is achieved by transmitting from the server to the client a persistent HTTP cookie after a first connection request from the client. Subsequent requests from that client will include a request for content and the cookie so that the server may verify the cookie and respond to the content request without the overhead of performing a full connection handshake.
Abstract:
A system and method provide for improving delivery of content over a network, such as a wireless network. Copies of previously loaded content may be stored locally on a client computing device coupled to the network. Future requests for similar content may be compressed based on the locally stored previously loaded content, and the compressed content may be delivered to the client device. The client device may use the stored previously loaded content to reconstruct the requested content.

A method and system for improving access to network content are described. Aspects of the disclosure minimize the delay between a navigation event and a network response by prerendering the next navigation event. For example, the method and system may predict a likely next uniform resource locator during web browsing to preemptively request content from the network before the user selects the corresponding link on a web page. The methods and systems describe a variety of manners for prerendering content and managing and configuring prerendering operations.
