Abstract: A process for making cellulose hardboard in which a wet lap of cellulose fiber containing in excess of 25 percent water is subjected to a hot press at an initial high pressure step of 200 to 500 psi. The said cellulose fibers are then subjected to at least one intermediate pressure step of 60-150 psi to reduce the moisture content to less than 20 percent and finally subjecting the said cellulose fibers to a final pressure step of 5-20 psi to reduce the moisture content greater than 5 percent.
