Abstract: Embodiments of a Machine Type Communication User Equipment (MTC UE), Next Generation Node-B (gNB) and methods of communication are generally described herein. The MTC UE may determine a system timing based on reception of a primary synchronization signal (PSS) and a secondary synchronization signal (SSS). The MTC UE may receive, from the gNB, radio resource control (RRC) signaling that indicates one or more parameters of a configurable resynchronization signal (RSS). The RSS may be for resynchronization, by the MTC UE, after the MTC UE awakens from a power save mode. The parameters of the RSS in the RRC signaling may depend on a target coverage of the MTC UE. The MTC UE may determine an updated system timing based on reception of the RSS.

Abstract: Embodiments may be directed to techniques to determine physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) candidates to assign to a user equipment (UE) based on one or more aggregation levels, each PDCCH candidate in a highest aggregation level of the one or more aggregation levels assigned by a random distribution over a whole control channel element (CCE) domain, and each PDCCH candidate in one or more non-highest aggregation levels of the one or more aggregation levels assigned a random distribution over one or more CCEs utilized by PDCCH candidates of the highest aggregation level. Embodiments also include selecting at least one of the PDCCH candidates to utilize to send downlink control information (DCI) to the UE, and causing transmission of the DCI to the UE via the PDCCH candidates selected.

Abstract: Techniques are provided for implementing backhaul communications for an integrated access and backhaul node (IAB) operating in a wireless network. For example, an IAB node determines a first random access channel (RACH) configuration for a child node in the wireless network that is served by the IAB node. The IAB transmits a RACH configuration request message including the first RACH configuration to a parent IAB node, and receives, from the parent IAB node, a second RACH configuration complete message that includes a second RACH configuration that is based on the first RACH configuration for the child node. The IAB then performs backhaul communication with the parent IAB node using the second RACH configuration.

Abstract: A method for communicating, by user equipment (UE), on a secondary cell (SCell) with fast activation or deactivation includes obtaining channel state information (CSI) configuration data including a short CSI reporting scheme that indicates a particular number of CSI reports for transmitting on physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) resources by the UE.
