Abstract: A method of video processing is described. The method includes making a first determination, for a chroma block of a video, whether a non-normal chroma intra prediction mode is applied to the chroma block of a video; making a second determination, for a luma block corresponding to the chroma block, that a luma intra prediction mode is applied to the luma block; making a third determination that a transform set or a transform matrix is applied to the chroma block based on the luma intra prediction mode; and performing a conversion between the video and a coded representation of the video according to the third determination, and wherein the non-normal chroma intra prediction mode comprises coding the chroma block without using extrapolated neighboring pixel values along a chroma prediction direction.

Abstract: A method of video processing includes determining a classification of samples of a block in a video picture of a video according to a rule, wherein the video picture is divided into multiple regions, and wherein the rule disallows use of neighboring samples of a current sample across one or more boundaries of the multiple regions for the classification. The one or more boundaries of the multiple regions comprises a virtual boundary for an adaptive loop filtering (ALF) process. The method also includes performing a conversion between the block and a bitstream representation of the video by selectively applying the ALF process according to the classification.

Abstract: Devices, systems and methods for digital video coding, which includes simplified cross-component prediction, are described. In a representative aspect, a method for video coding includes receiving a bitstream representation of a current block of video data including at least one luma component and at least one chroma component, predicting, using a linear model, a first set of samples of the at least one chroma component based on a second set of samples that is selected by sub-sampling samples of the at least one luma component, and processing, based on the first and second sets of samples, the bitstream representation to generate the current block.
