摘要: An electronic circuit (200) for a portable electronic device includes an energy source interface (202), a load (204) coupled to the energy source interface (202), an energy storage circuit (206) having a maximum operating voltage, and a switch circuit (208). The switch circuit (208) is coupled to the energy source interface (202) in series with the energy storage circuit (206). The switch circuit (208) operates to switchably decouple the energy storage circuit (206) in response to a voltage at the load (204) that exceeds the maximum operating voltage.

摘要: A mobile station (102) has electrical circuitry (301) that operates to reduce power consumption. A synthesizer (318) is tuned so that a receiver (314) receives a home radio frequency (RF) signal during a receive slot (504) of a PCH subframe (209). A controller (310) detects if an upcoming subframe has an uplink requirement and if data from the home RF signal indicates that an idle condition exists. If the upcoming subframe does not have an uplink requirement, synthesizer (318) is tuned during a long idle slot (506) of PCH subframe (209) to measure signal strengths of two peripheral RF signals. If the idle condition does exist, electrical circuitry (301) is placed into a low power mode throughout a transmit slot (508), a receive slot (512), a long idle slot (514), and a transmit slot (516).

摘要: In a digital modulator with compensation, a digital bit stream from a microphone (705), a speech coder (706), and a channel encoder (707) is sent to an encoder (720) which translates the bits into I/Q digital pulses with phase shift keying. A symbol correlater (730) notes when predetermined target phase symbol sequences, which contribute to a high peak-to-average power ratio, enter the encoder. If a target symbol sequence is encountered, the correlater directs compensation amplifiers or compensation filters (734, 737) of the I/Q signals. Next, I/Q pulse shaping filters (764, 765) filter the I/Q pulses according to communication system specifications. The filtered I/Q signals are then sent to a quadrature modulator (790) for RF modulation. Compensation of target symbol sequences reduces the negative impact they have on peak-to-average power ratio and increases the efficiency of the power amplifier (795) which extends the battery life of a communication device (700).

摘要: A communication device performs a method for detecting presence of a jamming signal. The method includes retrieving a scan list comprising multiple radio channels within a first frequency range of operation of the communication device. The method further includes scanning at least a subset of the channels on the scan list to determine, for each scanned channel, whether energy that exceeds an energy threshold is detected on the scanned channel. Moreover, the method includes determining a first quantitative measure based on a first plurality scanned channels having energy that exceeds the energy threshold, and comparing the first quantitative measure to at least a first jamming signal detection threshold. Additionally, the method includes indicating, on the communication device, presence of a jamming signal when the first quantitative measure satisfies the at least a first jamming signal detection threshold.

摘要: A method and system performs antenna tuning to minimize interference affecting signal reception within a wireless communication device. An antenna tuner controller determines whether the wireless communication device concurrently provides (a) simultaneous signal transmission and reception and (b) dual signal propagation. In response to determining that the wireless communication device concurrently provides the simultaneous signal transmission and reception and the dual signal propagation, the antenna tuner controller determines a current mode of operation corresponding to simultaneous signal transmission and reception and the dual signal propagation. Based on the mode of operation determined, the antenna tuner controller identifies a priority for performing antenna isolation to minimize interference affecting signal reception when the wireless communication device actively communicates within the specific mode of operation. In response to the identifying the priority for performing antenna isolation, the antenna tuner controller performs antenna impedance tuning that provides antenna isolation corresponding to the priority.

摘要: Methods and apparatus for serving content to a wireless device (106) are disclosed. In an embodiment, a gateway (114), or any other suitable device or system, determines that at least one message (e.g., a text or text-like message) containing a first pointer (e.g., a unicast URL) to the content (e.g., a web page) is to be transmitted via an emergency alert system (e.g., CMAS). In response thereto, the gateway (114) obtains the content using the first pointer and generates a second different pointer (e.g., a multicast/broadcast URL) to the content. The gateway (114) provides at least a portion of the at least one message and the second pointer for transmission via the emergency alert system (118). The gateway (114) also provides the content for transmission via a wireless multicast/broadcast channel (120) based on the second pointer.

摘要: An apparatus includes a video encoder, a camera and radio frequency modulation circuitry. The radio frequency modulation circuitry is operative to modulate a radar signal to include video data. A radar transmitter is operatively coupled to the radio frequency modulation circuitry, and is operative to transmit a radar signal including the video data. The apparatus may also include radio frequency demodulation circuitry and a video decoder. The video decoder is operative to decode video data contained in a radar signal demodulated by the radio frequency demodulation circuitry. An inter-vehicle alert system controls the camera to initiate capturing video data which includes the video data. A method of operation modulates a radar signal to include at least a portion of the video data captured in response to detecting an obstruction, and transmits the radar signal to a second vehicle via an antenna array oriented at the moving vehicle's rear.
